Watch the video at http://link.jbrains.ca/1kXv7VM and I apologise for the link confusion. I'm still figuring out how Google organises these things.

NATURALLY, Google has made this less easy than it could have. Watch live at http://link.jbrains.ca/1kXv7VM

The one suggestion [to remedy undefined variables] is to extend the original range with an additional value "undefined" or "nil"; this is the kind of remedy that pure mathematicians tend to invent, but it leads to all sorts of conflicts, exceptions and logical patches. - Edsger Dijkstra

Don't eliminate the risk of failure; instead, drive the cost of failure down. If most failure becomes insignificant, then we no longer risk failure, and everything simply becomes an experiment.

The impulse to "never let this happen again" dominates so easily, so we get paid to ask, "What would have to be true for this not to be such a big problem next time it happens?"

If you listened to my podcast/hangout at http://link.jbrains.ca/1kXv7VM and have questions, then you can ask them here!

I created confusion last time. Let me avoid that.

You won't all be able to join the hangout to start. Only join the hangout to ask a question. After I've answered your question, please leave the hangout so that someone else can join. You can watch the session at YouTube: http://link.jbrains.ca/1kSGCCe

If you'd prefer to ask your question in advance, then please ask it here.

Thanks!
This Hangout On Air is hosted by J. B. Rainsberger. The live video broadcast will begin soon.

Well, that went quickly, and with no audience questions. If you tried to ask a question, but couldn't, then please let me know. Obviously I need to learn more about how to use this system.

Yes I totally don't disagree, except perhaps about the order Kent states his list of attributes of simple design, and the lack of mention of "minimizing dependencies" therein. Depends on the programming language too I believe.  Thanks for your inspiring blog-post.

I've backed this film at Kickstarter aimed at making people more aware of the potential for many carbohydrates to slowly kill many people. If you're healthier today because you've oriented your diet away from carbohydrates, then please consider backing this film to spread the message even farther. #lchf   #lowcarb

We favor cuts of meat with more fat: steak, ground beef, pork, lamb. We also eat a lot of fish. We eat leaner meat less often, like chicken and turkey. We want a lot of fat with our protein.

I spent a couple of hours drinking cappuccino, using a reliable, reasonable wifi and sitting in a comfortable chair in a quaint atmosphere. The staff acted very friendly, and (I presume) the owner even told us, "Wow, you guys are quiet!" referring to my wife and me. I found the cappuccino itself barely drinkable. It tasted like an airport lounge fully-automated machine cappuccino. I would not go back there for the coffee. The food rating does not reflect the snacks, only the coffee.

I spent a few hours at Hava Java drinking very good cappuccino (order a double), sitting in a very comfortable bench in the upstairs seating area, cruising on reliable, fast wifi. I dealt with very pleasant staff and would have happily spent more time there had I discovered it earlier in my trip. My food rating applies only to the coffee, not to their snacks or sandwiches.
