Google Glass + pd-l2ork + Linux Laptop Orchestra = Glasstra, a real-time scriptable Google Glass UI

Dear fellow Google Glass enthusiasts: I am trying to figure out why some models of Google Glass have horrendous wifi connection and others don't and whether there is anything that can be done about this. Namely, I tried one model with the latest firmware installed and it is literally unable to receive a single large packet of network data without having some of it mangled. In case of using TCP packets, the app often hangs for up to 10 seconds while it waits for a resend of a lost TCP packet, while in UDP situation, things are all over the place. The app and the environment are strictly controlled (e.g. isolated router on LAN connected only to one laptop via wired ethernet, and Google Glass via wifi). The same was attempted through multiple routers (3) and while some fare better than others, one Glass shows consistent problems with receiving network data, while other doesn't. Pinging two Glass devices also shows stark difference in terms of ping times. Finally, I attempted multiple types of wifi connection, from completely open to various forms of encryption with no observed difference in behavior among them. One glass is consistently way better than other in receiving a steady stream of network packets, regardless of their type (TCP vs. UDP) or size. Is there anything that can be done about this? Does Google offer some kind of replacement/support for these kinds of instances? Any thoughts/assistance is most appreciated.
