Todays Case: Our patient had a severe overbite and large diastema (gap) between her front teeth. She was unhappy with how her teeth looked and wanted to fix them, but she was not wanting to wear traditional braces. Dr. Burton treated this case using ClearCorrect orthodontics (similar to Invisalign). Looks great!

Today's case done by Dr. Ashley Burton deals with fixing a diastema (gap) between the two front teeth.  The patient is a nursing student in her mid 20's who has never liked the space between her two front teeth.  She was given the options of Braces (8-14 months of treatment and $3-4,000 cost), Porcelain Veneers (2 visits and $1,500-2000 cost), or Composite Bonding (30 minutes total and less than $300 total cost).
No anesthesia was required.  The two front teeth were skillfully built up using resin composite and shaped to a natural contour.  The treatment required no removal of tooth structure which means it is totally reversible if desired.  Also the cost to the patient was significantly less than any of the other options.  Needless to say, she was one very happy nurse! **note: the difference in shade is due to the camera, her teeth stayed the same nice shade.

Today's case:  A before and after comparison.  Our patient was unhappy with how her teeth looked when she smiled.  She had a history of taking Dilantin medication for seizures and had significant gingival overgrowth on her front teeth (a common side-effect of this medication).  Her composite fillings on her teeth were staining and chipping.  This case required prepping teeth 6-11 for porcelain crowns and also doing crown-lengthening gingivectomy procedure using a diode laser.

Did you know, it is generally recommended that a child be seen by a dentist by the age of 1 or within 6 months after his or her first tooth comes in? Our skilled and friendly team can help your little one have a wonderful first visit.

Today's case.  Our patient noticed that her old filling was chipping and felt sharp.  It was actually getting decayed under it as well and needed replaced.  The best and ideal option for this tooth is a porcelain crown, but she wasn't able to do that at this time for financial reasons, so we chose the option of a cosmetic bonded filling.  Even though after removing the old silver filling and the decay there wasn't much tooth left, we were able to use bonding technology to get a nice new filling in place that should work nicely for her for years to come until she can afford the better option.  Looks and feels way better now.
