What comes to mind when you think of Chinese? Time and time again I’ve heard people saying things like “it’s a picture for every word”, and many a language’s version of “it’s all Greek to me” points to Chinese instead. It’s always this exotic, unknown…
I have some news! I'm been an Android developer since 2011 (well, I was kind of an ignorant fool when I started...) I never have given phones to work with, but I also never asked. This past two weeks I received my first devices from companies. They contacted me and I was surprised, but kinda happy too.
I'll be working with these devices in the following weeks and if all goes right, I'll be making custom Kernels for it. Not only that, but I can also give useful feedback to the teams and help them improve the product. And I get to test my apps on them too, which is important.
So starting from the left it's the One Plus X, then the Nextbit Robin and finally the One Plus 2.
I have to thank and for the generosity. Nextbit team was specially helpful since the phone shipped from the US and I could easily have paid customs tax, but they handled everything and the ride was smooth!
I'll be giving some hands-on and bullshit-free opinions of these devices in the coming days, but here's some quick words:
OPX -> Amazing build quality, puts some 600-700€ to shame on that department. Amazing display
Nextbit -> I love the smooth build quality, feels REALLY nice. The fingerprint scanner is very very fast and nicely placed. The FHD display is great too, until I checked the resolution I thought it was a QHD display
OP2 -> Great build too, builds on top of the OPO's amazing build. The alert slider (same as on the OPX) is really handy. Camera is good, but the device's performance sucks (more on that in another post)
There you go guys. I'll be sharing more of my work on these things in the following weeks.
Again, thanks and !
It’s finally time to open the Pandora’s box of Cantonese! Despite having lots of colloquial and expressive stuff planned, I suddenly had the idea to start with something simpler, but extremely useful in daily life: units. The world appears to be divided…
