We always recommend that you avoid using sticks or twigs when playing with your pets. They can splinter in the mouth (oral cavity) and cause punctures to the food pipe (esophagus). They can also cause diarrhea andvomiting by upsetting the GI tract if ingested. Lastly, sticks and hard branches can cause cracked teeth leading to extractions or root canals!

Recently we posted about FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). Today we want to highlight a different disease- FIP or Feline Infectious Peritonitis. This is disease is hard to diagnose and can very frustrating for pet owners and for veterinarians beside being fatal to cats (95%). Here is more information regarding this sad disease:

"The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) reports 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats have some kind of oral disease by the age of 3."
Is your pet affected? Dental disease is classified as any gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) or dental tartar or calculus.

Would you have done what this man did, he ignored orders from Sheriffs not go back in? We know we would have done the same to save our pets! What do you think of this?

Just switched to Island Trees Vet Hospital and couldn't be happier. All of the staff are so incredibly kind and caring. They accomodated our visit after hours and have gone above and beyond right off the bat. Dr. Gottleib explained everything in detail and is attentive and knowledgeable! Highly recommend them!

Absolutely nothing but the best care. The staff here have always been wonderful to our two pups from day one. I love that this is a family run place. We have been seen by all three doctors and they are all just wonderful. We recently had an emergency with our little guy Walter early in the morning. We walked in at 8am, as I was afraid to take him to an emergency vet. I felt much better having someone who knows us already and who we trust to take a look at him. Dr. Brad Gottlieb was not supposed to be in until 10. We panicked, not wanting our little guy to suffer in pain for two more hours. The staff called the dr and he came in to the office right away to see him. He explained everything he was doing and what he was checking in great detail, making sure we didn't panic if we heard him yelping in pain again. He then explained in detail what exactly the problem was and what we need to do about it. They could have charged us a lot more than they did (we were actually expecting it), and did a lot more testing, but he said he was only going to do what he felt necessary at the time. Here, the staff actually cares about your pets. They want whats best for them. They treat them as if they were there own. We have moved from the area, and still travel the 40 minutes here because we love this place so much! If you want the best care for your furry family members, take them here!

I have nothing but WONDERFUL things to say about Island Trees, they are incredible! They are are warm and caring to both the client (dog) and owners. We recently moved from Cali, and wanted to find a reliable vet to bring out 6 year old curly coated retriever for annual check-up, but we made the mistake to take him to another vet that tried to talk us into getting all these un-necessary tests done. HOWEVER, when we got our frenchie puppy we knew we had to find a TRUSTING, RELIABLE, CLEAN vet. Fortunately we found Island trees for our 9.5 week puppy. At 12 weeks our frenchie began to have a health issue that requires alot of care. Both Dr. J. Gottlieb and Dr. Caren were excellent. They took the time to explain everything and answer any questions or concerns we had. All the other staff members are friendly and helpful. I am so happy to have found them, and the older dog will def be going there the next time he needs a vet as well. I can't imagine taking either of them anywhere else!

My family has been using Island Trees Vet for over 25 years. The staff are incrediably caring and welcoming. There is nothing better than to be greeted warmly. Both Dr Gottliebs are amazing. They are compassionate, knowledgable and always go the extra mile to make my dog Sydney feel comfortable. We moved over 1 hr away and we still use them. Wouldn't consider using anyone else. Worth the drive! We have had many pets throughout the 25 years and when any of them were sick or dying, the love we felt from this place was touching! Highly recommend them!

My experience with Island Tree Veterinary Hospital has been wonderful. The Dr. Gottlieb, Dr. Caren and their staff are knowledgeable and caring professionals. A few years back we rescued a kitten with an amputated foot. He was having a problem with it because the amputation was done wrong. We took him to our regular vet and he recommended we amputate the rest of the leg to fix it. Our regular vet at the time did not do that kind of surgery so he recommended Island Tree. We brought him in and he was seen by Dr. Caren. He also recommended the leg be fully amputated to help. We agreed to the surgery. Our kitten is now a beautiful, healthy, full grown cat that jumps, runs and loved to play with his three dog siblings. Going to Island Tree save our kitten and we will always be thankful for the care and attention they gave to us. Dr. Gottlieb has also been wonderful in helping up with a situation we had with our dogs. We have three dogs and occasionally they would fight. A few times we had to bring them to our vet to get some staples put in for injuries. We were not happy with the way our old vet was handling our case. He never offered advice on how to stop the fighting and did not seem to care to help. I then remembered how happy I was with the care we received at Island Tree when we brought in our cat, so we decided to bring in our dogs. Again we were very happy with the care we received and the full attention to the situation we were given. Dr. Gottlieb took the time to talk to us and discussed things that could help stop the fighting. Yet again going to Island Tree was the best thing to do. My dogs are now doing great. Thanks again Island Tree!

I have been using Island Trees for over 15 years. The doctors and staff have been tremendous with all of there help, hospitality, and friendliness. They are always there in the time of need. They are all helpful and patient with explaining everything you need to know & always show their love to your family animals which is the most important thing to me because we all know how nervous our loved ones are when they paw through those doors. The atmosphere is very clean and I couldn't ask for anything more.

They were absolutely wonderful! This is my first time owning a pet and they advised me in such a beautiful manner. They didn't push me to do anything that i was not comfortable with. Everyone that came in contact with my adopted 6 year old dog was friendly and nice to him. I was completely comfortable being in that place and i could tell that so was my dog. I recommend this place for anyone who needs to find a vet that will care for your dog properly! :)

I am not sure what the previous review was about. I am a new pet owner and I came to Island Trees Vet because it was highly recommended to me. Both the staff and doctors were AMAZING! They answered all my questions and were very compassionate. My dog was not only neutered by Dr. Brad but was also micro chipped. I am a very nervous person, and Dr. Brad and his staff put my mind at ease about the entire process, explained everything in detail and ensured I was comfortable before leaving. I would highly recommend Island Trees!
