the answer

This pinhole portal was intended for the +Alien Abduction Friday crew last night +Alex Lapidus +Jetski Jones +Heiko Mahr +Janice Hackney with +Ruby Warrior Terrier in the name of Others Who Cannot Be Named #owcbn  and the #gplusaliennation  .  As I was submitting my report, forces unknown transported me into a deep state of subconsciousness.   I've been returned, screen and #alienabductionfriday  submission intact, just as I left it.  I have yet to assess if I'm in good, working condition.  >8))))

I also share with #pinholephotography  fans and #sunsetsaturday  +Sunset Saturday .  Taken with my DSLR through a tiny hole of a fallen golden leaf which I held up to the lens, the effects were a nice discovery.

Enjoy your weekend!!

PS - Can you tell that my Winter Break from teaching has begun? ;))

Went lookin' for some truth, and found it in a sunrise...

I've enjoyed a very well-needed week off from teaching, and completely indulged in the joy of photography and light.  This morning, golden mist treated me to a beautiful view to bring it all together.  Peace.

A healing space that knows

A late night Sunday hello to my G+ friends!   I miss time with you and your daily photography inspiration.  LIfe has been very busy presenting itself with new demands and challenges.  I couldn't help taking a break to share some beautiful light from one of my favorite spaces with you.  Be well!

In 2007-2008, I used to visit FEMA's Renaissance Village Trailer Park, the temporary government housing set up for New Orleans displaced families following the levee failure post-Katrina.  Once a week, I'd spend time with the youth at the after school resource center helping them with schoolwork and letting them use my camera to take pictures of their space.  Needless to say, it was a very rewarding and invaluable experience.

After the trailer park's closure in 2008, the families did their best to find places to live throughout the Baton Rouge and New Orleans area.  Unfortunately I hadn't seen any of the children since then, until I surprisingly crossed paths with one of them this week.  :))

See his photos and read more about the experience in my blog post http://irenekatophotos.blogspot.com/2014/08/found-fellow-young-photographer-from.html.  Thank you for taking a look!

The night trio

I really enjoyed meeting with +Nancy Battis Vita and +Holger Drallmeyer in Princeton, NJ on Friday night!  It was great spending time soaking up their goodness shared in conversation and photographic work.  We explored the nooks and crannies of the historic campus late into the night.  Here we grabbed one more shot before we all hit the road home.

Thanks again, dear Holger and Nancy!!  :)))

Check out the good community work of Baton Rouge's Walls Project!  This past weekend I joined a great group of artists and volunteers in improving one of our city parks with wall murals.  It was lots of fun and invaluable to participate with my family and fellow citizens.

Thank you very much!  :))
