I get bored with index investing. Cheerleaders for passive investing will tell me that is the whole point. But isn't investing supposed to be about supporting causes you believe in? Ruth's article on investing in Section 8 housing really opened my eyes. I always thought Section 8 was a dirty word, but the truth is everyone needs a place to live. And if your monthly check comes directly from the government, isn't that pretty secure? Tenets can be nightmares no matter what their background is, there's no reason to assume a low-income family will be a bad tenet and if you have a chance to help them out by providing a safe place to live, isn't that a good thing?

Sometimes I forget how fortunate we are as Americans. I never think about the security of my money, ever. There are so many places in the world that don't have this luxury : (

Lending Club asked if I would update my review of their service. They deposited $5,000 into a newly opened account and the only rule was that I had to stay on the platform for at least one year. Other than that, I got to say whatever I want. Considering I stopped investing with Lending Club back in 2015 for a variety of reasons, I knew this review was going to be fun : )
