PolyWorks|Inspector™ Tip – Build/Inspect to several features simultaneously using multiple DROs

When you use the Build/Inspect tool to locate a position that is dimensioned with respect to more than one feature, you will need to consider several distances. It is possible to set several digital readouts (DROs) to simultaneously view distances to each of the features to consider. This is a quick and convenient way of performing such a Build/Inspect operation in a single step.

Step by step: Build/Inspect to features using a separate DRO for each feature.

1. Select the features in the Tree View.
2. Right-click over the selection to display a shortcut menu. Choose Build/Inspect.
The Build/Inspect dialog box and the Build/Inspect Objects pane are displayed.
3. In the Build/Inspect dialog box, set Method to Multiple Distances .
4. In the Build/Inspect Objects pane select a feature for which a DRO is to be added, then click the pane’s Add Digital Readout button .
A DRO is displayed for the feature (DRO 1).
Repeat this step to display a second DRO for a different feature.
5. Optional: On the title bar of a DRO, click the Rows button to add or remove rows in the DRO (Object name, X, Y, Z, 3D distance, Normal distance).
6. Now, locate your part using the real-time feedback provided in the DROs.
