Older (1930's), once high-end hotel, deco style hallmarks remain (elevators a good example), great ambience, nice bar, only feet from the Magnificent Mile, close to everything, and reasonably priced for the center of Chicago. Plain rooms but some have great views. A hotel with character, and very appealing if you like the more unique hotels.

Worse experience ever in a hotel. I just got back from Chicago and felt I needed to keep you away from this place. The one good thing is the location. Where do I begin. Well lets start with the inside of the hotel. The only thing modern is perhaps the lobby. Although the picture on there site looks good the rest is crap. There is a small bar the size of my buddies in his basement. The bar is right near the entrance and you watch people come and go. The elevators are small and run down like the ones in Europe. The halls are dark and old looking. Oh and now the rooms! After reading reviews of bed bugs... I was prepared for this and checked everywhere. for bugs. I placed my bag on the small table in the room and never left anything on the floor. The room was about 12 x9 and had no fridge. The make shift closet was so small the cloths stuck out into the hall. The bath room had the smallest vanity you could find at ikea and when i bent over to brush my teeth my butt hit the curtains of the shower. The tiles on the wall where broken and the tub was chipped in several spots. Even the Doors to the rooms did not have seals to keep out noise in the halls. Although the hotel was "Crap" the staff did there very best and where very professional. For the two days I stayed there I payed Hwy robbery prices. I have stayed in better motels.. I am 100% telling you the truth. I hope the hotel sees this because its costumers that keep them in business.. STAY AWAY.

Now this review is based on my experience two years ago (2012) ..... The hotel is a historic building that has been carefully modernized. It's so beautifully decorated without losing the charm and history. The location is perfect, puts your rihgt in the center of everything. We were there for an audition and the staff was super helpful and knowledgeable. The rooms are a okay sized and the bathroom was small but clean. We went in the winter time so we didnt get to enjoy the skyline terrace to the max, BUT the view was spectacular and made for some amazing snow-filled pictures! IMPORTANT NOTE: Seeing as how the symptoms dont show up right away, Our experience while staying here was great which is why my review isn't one star, it's the aftermath that was torture. My boyfriend and I got bed bugs from here despite spraying down the entire room with Lysol (we do this everywhere we go) before sitting or laying on anything. We did call and tell the hotel, so hopefully they took appropriate action to rid the room(s) of the problem.

Chi Christine- Thank you for your review and acknowledging our charming and historic building located in the heart of Chicago. Please be assured that the Inn of Chicago is committed to the health, safety and welfare of our guests. We mandate an aggressive pest control policy, which includes regularly scheduled professional inspections and, if necessary, elimination protocols on a daily and monthly basis to inspect and clean our rooms using some of the latest methods available in the industry. We have also implemented a thorough training program for our housekeeping and maintenance personnel to assist in the early recognition of an infestation.

Stayed here 3 nights and it was very good! Front desk personnel was very polite, hotel is in very good shape for being an older building, and rooms were quiet. Bathroom in our room was small, and the toilet is very short, but smells super clean and towels are white and smell fresh. Lobby has cool seating area and bar, and location is great! I'll come back! Also, roof top deck is great for evening drinks! ;)

Dear Chris Piedade, Thank you for staying with us for four days in Chicago! We are very pleased to hear that our front desk team and accommodations exceeded expectations. Glad you had a chance to stop by our skyline terrace during your stay to enjoy the scenic views while enjoying a cocktail or two! We look forward to your next return. -The Inn of Chicago Team

Close to the mile, transport, and sites. old school hotel. Price was ok as well. If you want 5 star go to the hyatt. If you want a bed and a place to stash your gear stay here.

Dean--Thank you for your comments. We take pride on our historic and affordable accommodations right off the Magnificent Mile.

I reserved 2 rooms - I'm sorry, this has to be one of the worst hotels I've stayed in. First, at check in the receptionist had problems finding my reservations which were made and paid for in May - My stay was on 7/20 - 7/22. I was afraid to use the pole lamp in my room because the post was broken and it was just leaning against the wall. The room was very small, the closet had a drape for a door and the bathroom was inexcusable, very small and nowhere to put toiletries except for a 2 shelf glass fixture that didn't even butt up against the wall - so when you put your toothbrush or deoderent on it for example, it would end up on the floor. Please check under your bed! I had leggos, almonds and candy wrappers under mine, the other room I paid for had pillow feathers and chocolate under the beds. I guess that's what you get when you book through a broker instead of dealing with the hotel directly. Thank goodness for photoshop, because my rooms didn't look like any of the pictures. Oh, and when you get there, you find out that you have to prepay $50 per room (in my case $100), which was put on my credit card in case I used amenities in the room. Not really sure what amenities would cost $50 ... all I chose to do was sleep there ... still waiting on the credit reversal ...

David Powell- We regret to hear if our accommodations did not exceed expectations. Our guest rooms are smaller in size due to the fact that we are a historic building that was originally constructed back in 1927. If the expectation of a hotel experience is a Marriott or a Hyatt, that is not what is found in our hotel. If the experience that is being sought is a true authentic Chicago experience, then we are the place for it. We regret to learn if our team was unable to immediately locate your reservation upon check-in, and apologize for the inconvenience. It is our routine procedure to check under each guest bed, and can assure you this was an accidental oversight by our housekeeping team. Almost every hotel requires a deposit for incidentals, in case anything is damaged or stolen. Just to be clear, we do not charge guests for taking in-room amenities.
