Here is a  handy hint - How to test your toilet for leaks
Put some food coloring into the toilet tank of water. Wait 15 minutes or so. If the dye has spread to the toilet bowl, you know that you have a leak. Take a look at the flapper, which is most likely the problem. It is easy to replace. If you really are all thumbs, then call in a handy neighbor or friend.

For all of you who have unsightly stove burners & grates here is a solution to get rid of the mess.
I’m going to change your life today.  (Well, your stove top at least.) Pin Don’t you judge me!  I cook.  A lot. These were my stove burner/grates. Pin Yep.  They were so bad that I am almost embarrassed to put a watermark on this photo.   You cook… oil and grease spatter… they get heated and reheated and then pretty soon you have a disgusting coating...Read More

These are some brilliant ideas!  I have a bunch of Orphan Socks that are going to be put to new uses.
Don't toss those orphan socks — the singles who get mysteriously separated from their pairs between washing and drying can be helpful. Put them to use in a variety of smart ways to help keep your home a bit cleaner.

I already used some of these ideas, others were "why didn't I think of that" ideas.  Thanks

For innkeepers who want to make a gluten free bar, this is the best.  Also you can use cranraisins in place of raisins.

We have tried it but unfortunately realised that the oats in South Africa is not wheat free and as such not gluten free.  We have skipped the raisins and replaced with cranberries.  After reading Judy's comment we replace the almond milk with almond cream.  Nice and crunchy.  Thanks

We all have had all of these spills and slip-ups happen to us in the kitchen.  Especially the broken glass in the dishwasher.

I'm pretty good about not freezing these 11 items
Whether you’re a pro at preparing Crock Pot freezer meals or buying in bulk to stock up on food deals, your freezer could be your kitchen’s hidden secret to saving money on groceries. Not only can buying frozen save you money, but you can also make great recipes using your favorite seasonal produce year-round. But not all foods were created equally, and […]

Nice to know of some other uses for these little plastic wonders.
Just because they're disposable doesn't mean they're trash.

Just added a new pin in Pinterest to my Inn The Kitchen Board. It is all about increasing protein in your breakfast offerings. My favorite is the Apple Greek Yogurt Parfait.

We travel the country as Interim Innkeepers, Consultants, & Educational Trainers
Introduction
Having owned their own bed and breakfast for ten years in Manitou Springs, Colorado, Lynda & Howard Lerner  were ready to do some traveling themselves.  What they do now, is travel the country and work as Interim Innkeepers (Inn Sitters) for Bed & Breakfast owners who need some time away from their Bed & Breakfast.  They still love taking care of guests and making sure that the bed and breakfast is operating even when the owners are not there.

For those that are interested in either owning their own bed and breakfast or becoming interim innkeepers , they teach hands on training classes.

For those current Bed and breakfast owners who feel they need some help, the Lerner's are available as bed and breakfast consultants.
