Great experience. Rooms were nice, the fridge and microwave were a nice bonus. Free breakfast was nice, lots of choices. Staff was friendly, Vanessa took good care of me. Will stay there again.

Horrible stay. Sheets looked like they weren't even washed... Or shaken off for that matter. I felt so disgusting sleeping in the bed that I didn't even get a good sleep. Oh, and lets not forget the giant roach that I had to kill and the pee smell coming from God knows where!!

We checked out Saturday 7-11-2015. Our Marine had just graduated from boot camp the day before. His dead grandfather bought him a marine watch before he passed away, he knew his grandson was going to go into Narines. Upon his graduation his father gave him this watch from his grandfather. Less than an hour after we left, he realized he left watch in motel room. My daughter called immediately and they said, oh the rooms been clean and new people are in it. We had gone straight from hotel to return rental car before our flight. We went to airport and he went through all his luggage wasn't there. My daughter called again and they were of no help. We think it fell off the bed. So some maid has his watch that his dead grandfather gave him. Shame in red roof in, including owner.

Had a pleasant stay here. The staff was very nice and accommodating. I loved the complimentary breakfast...the lady who works there is AMAZING AND FUNNY. my whole family loved her. She greeted us every morning with a smile and positive attitude. She makes Red Roof proud. I think her name was Maria. Only downside was for a two bed room it was very tight and small. But no complaints...as long as there was a bed. My main focus was enjoying San Diego. But Red Roof will always be a great memory, thanks to the lady who works the breakfast area in the morning. (nice balcony seating area for breakfast)

August 2015 - This was a group of 8 of us and we booked 3 nights in 5 rooms and chose this motel because of its proximity to the beach (about 2 miles I think) and to a sailing charter we were going to use near the airport. The reviews were not bad on another site and I never read further. To start with the positive, the staff were accommodating and tried to make things right within their ability to do so For the negatives I need to preface this by saying that I almost always stay at hotels that are basic amenity or small mom and pop motels. I don't need fancy, but I do need clean, and this motel was the dirtiest I think I have ever stayed in. All the sheets had black marks and black hair (some long black hairs) between the sheets, and all the bedspreads were stained (source not apparent). The tub in our room was filthy with long black hair in it, toilet lid was dirty (something black and sticky) and the clean socks I had put on got short black curly hairs on them from walking around the main room floors which are laminate. Same story when we changed rooms except the tub was a little cleaner. Many of the passage ways smelled like the dumpster area of a restaurant and some of the air conditioners clattered really loudly. Second issue was related to safety. When we pulled in there were no less than 4 police cars in front of the motel and in the motel parking lot. There were several officers searching the area and searching through a car in the parking lot with windows that were shattered and broken out. We waited awhile for them to finish the investigation, but finally decided to go get something to eat across the street and drive around. This is not something that inspires a feeling of safety and security. Those of us who had booked through third party sites were stuck for the first night, but gratefully able to cancel the next 2 nights citing safety concerns. The really sad part was the loss of at least 4 hours out of our trip trying to get the accommodation situation straightened out for all 8 of us when we should have been able to check in after our long drive and start our vacation. We ended up booking a little further north at a Holiday Inn Express in La Jolla that was amazing. It was a longer Uber ride to the sailing charter, and there were only a couple of larger rooms/suites available so we just bunked in together...but well worth it. Very very nice clean place and just 1 blocks walk to the beach.

Refused to take my discount code even though I showed it to them on my mobile device AND showed them my national association membership card. UPDATE 7/7/15- Management contacted me and did in fact honor my national association discount code. I am very pleased that this was resolved quickly.
