Body modification pioneer Raelyn Gallina passed away on September 6. She was a tremendous influence on body piercing in Philadelphia, and Infinite Body Piercing would probably not exist without her. She is survived by her partner, Babs, who is accepting donations for medical and funeral expenses.

We are sad to announce that, at the end of this month, Infinite Body Piercing piercer Kali Taylor will be leaving to start fresh at Deep Roots Tattoo in Seattle. We all wish her the best—but that means we are officially looking to fill her soon-to-be-vacant position.

Infinite is now accepting résumés for prospective piercers. We are asking for 5 years experience in a professional studio. (We are not looking for apprentices at this time.) To submit a résumé, or to get more information, email Jessica at office@infinitebody.com.

R.I.P. Raelyn Gallina

Raelyn Gallina has passed away.

Raelyn was instrumental in the rise in popularity of body piercing in the early 90s, making Philadelphia a main stop on her body modification tours. She helped to shape what body piercing was, and would become, on the East Coast. I was lucky to have had both piercing and branding work done by her.

She was never given the status in our community that I always felt she deserved, and when I became president of the APP in 2009, I knew I wanted to work to change that, and she was the first person I was able to honor with the APP President’s Award. (She’s holding it in her lap in the video, and you can read more about it in The Point #48, at safepiercing.org.) Of all the things I was able to do as president, this was one of my accomplishments I’m most proud of.

Over the 20-plus years I’ve been in the industry, and my time with the APP, I’ve had the opportunity to meet and work with most of my heroes—but Raelyn was still something special. She will be missed, but not forgotten.

Infinite Body Piercing, Inc., was established and incorporated in late 1994, and opened its retail space for business February 1, 1995. Since then, Infinite has continued to set the standard for professional body piercing in Philadelphia and the nation.

We strive to be a safe and welcoming space for everyone, regardless of age, sexual orientation, gender or gender identity. Our diverse staff is always open to any questions, no matter if you are getting your first ear piercing or something a little more risqué. We have both male and female piercers on staff, so whatever your comfort level we have someone here for you.

We offer a full range of services, from ear piercing and simple jewelry insertion to surface anchors and genital piercings. We have a huge selection of jewelry, everything from basic hoop earrings to three-inch ear plugs, from implant grade stainless steel and titanium to glass, wood, horn, and other natural materials. We stock earrings, navel bling, and everything in-between!

We’re open every day, and we always have a piercer on staff, if not two (or sometimes even three). If you come in for a piercing, we’ll make sure you leave something that’s clean and works with your body—and your lifestyle. We’ll give you extensive written aftercare, and suggest a cleaning regimen with products that work for you. If you’re just coming in to browse and shop, we’ll even put your new jewelry in for free.

But don’t take our word for it; come in and see for yourself.

I have gotten all my piercings done here (11) and have never had a problem. I feel like most of these negative reviews were just from people who had no idea how to care for a piercing, and are looking for someone to blame. Other cases where the staff may have been rude. I can't really say anything because I have always had friendly staff members assist me.

I walked in, probably pale as a ghost from fear, to get my belly button pierced. As soon as I walked in, the staff greeted me, asked me what I was there for, and immediately took me back for a consultation. After they determined that the piercing would be ok on my body, they took me to fill out paper work, and then to the back room to get pierced. Kalli, the woman who did the piercing, was really great. She calmed me down, talked me through what was going to happen, how it would feel, and that it would be ok. The piece was in my belly button before I even knew it was happening. I did not feel a lot of pain, and she was great with explaining to me everything that was happening. I would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking about getting a piercing done :)

The staff is awesome, they all have great energy! I got a triangle piercing there last night and they really took care of me, I'm already thinking of what hole I'd let them punch into me next! It was great! Kellan was amazing, the only person I'd ever let pierce me again.

I thought that once I had piercing and tattoos that people would be nicer to me like I had entered some kind of alternative club. Nope. The people at infinite hate me as much as they hate you. They don't want you to be there. They don't need your service and they don't want it. If you don't make an appointment they're going to be instantly annoyed. It's located in the city and when groups of teen girls come in to get their bellies and tongues pierced you can tell that the piercers are incredibly bothered. I understand that they must put up with a lot of bullshit but that's their job. If I'm paying you that much to provide me with a service, I am also paying for you to treat me like a human being. I got my ears pierced at a 4 next to my old 20 gauge holes. Kyle pierced it unevenly and after the profuse bleeding ended had to repierce the hole immediately after the mess up. I wish they would've told me to let them heel and we would try again. It never healed while the other hole healed up beautifully. i had to take them both out and the experience was so negative I don't even want to do it again. I spent so much time, money and energy trying to fixing a mistake that I paid them to make. COOL! Everyone thinks people with tattoos and piercings are d***s and this place really explains that. They also won't give you new balls when you purchase new rings.

When I went into the shop, it was pretty crowded but I went up to the counter and was helped soon after. I told them what I wanted and signed the papers and everything. Then I waited for my name to be called and once it was called, Eduardo took me (and my sister) to a room towards the back. Everything was going smoothly until I asked my sister to give me her hand to hold just before he pierced me and he took this as me "freaking out" and said "you need to calm down". Doesn't seem like a big deal, but I was not showing any outward signs of "freaking out". Also, I asked a question and he just answered very rudely. Just everything about his demeanor seemed rude and unfriendly. He was supposed to make my experience enjoyable and reassure me and I just didn't get that at all. Overall, I love my piercing but I didn't like Eduardo's attitude at all. The woman at the cash register was really nice though

This place was awesome! Got my VCH done and they were extremely clean and friendly. I felt comfortable and safe. I'm going back to stretch my ears. I fully recommend this place.

I got my philtrum pierced here. And would like to say that if you look really closely it's not perfectly centered. It did heal very well and followed what they told me on how to take care of it. My piercer was very cool and had let my boyfriend in to hold my hand. I was a little nervous. It was very quick but the one thing I do no like about this place is that, the people who work at the register area give off a smug vibe like they're better than everyone. They're not that friendly an have not gone back just because of that vibe. I prefer Warrior because the people there are very helpful, friendly and inviting. They always offer to help you and inform you well and what you want to know without sounding like know-it-alls. I've bought my jewelry at Warrior and will get any future piercings by them.
