#Konark #Sun #Temple

The 13th century temple is said to have been built by king Narasimhadeva I of Eastern Ganga Dynasty. Though a major part of the temple lies in ruins, the fascination for travellers remains in its odd chariot shaped structure, exquisite carvings, elaborately designed stone wheels and walls. This is meant to be the chariot of the Sun God. It is oriented towards the east so that the first rays of sun hit the entrance of the temple. The temple is listed as one the #World #Heritage #sites.
