Tributes to Bal Gangadhar Tilak & to Chandrashekhar Azad on their birth anniversary
Bal Gangadhar Tilak was one of the first and strongest advocates of "Swaraj" (self-rule) and his famous quote, Swaraj is my birthright, and I shall have it! is well-remembered in India even today.

Chandrashekhar Azad was a great Indian revolutionary who reorganized the Hindustan Republican Association and is considered to be the mentor of Bhagat Singh and chief strategist of the HSRA.

National Flag Adoption Day
The National Flag of India was adopted in its present form during the meeting of Constituent Assembly held on the 22 July 1947, a few days before India's independence from the British on 15 August, 1947.
The evolution of the Indian National Flag sailed through many vicissitudes to arrive at what it is today. In one way it reflects the political developments in the nation.

UNESCO has declared Bihar's ancient Nalanda University as a World Heritage Site.

Nalanda University was the first great university in recorded history and one of the world's first residential university. In its heyday, it accommodated over 10,000 students and 2,000 teachers. Originally the university was established in 5th century AD by Gupta Kings. It was destroyed in a war in 1197, when it was just the same time that Oxford was being established and Cambridge had not yet been born.

Another feather has been added to the cap of India's heritage recognition as Nalanda University has been added to the list of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
