Kargil Vijay Diwas - A Salute To Our War Heroes

The Kargil War was an armed conflict between India and Pakistan that took place between May and July 1999. The conflict, also referred to as Operation Vijay, ended  after two months of grueling battle. Kargil conflict officially ended on  26 July 1999, after complete eviction of Pakistan intruders and is known as Kargil Victory Day.  On this day let us remember and salute our soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the war.

Below is the picture of the giant Indian flag at the Kargil War memorial, built by the Indian Army in Dras.

Jai Hind

Tributes to Bal Gangadhar Tilak & to Chandrashekhar Azad on their birth anniversary

Bal Gangadhar Tilak  was one of the first and strongest advocates of "Swaraj" (self-rule) and his famous quote, Swaraj is my birthright, and I shall have it! is well-remembered in India even today.

Chandrashekhar Azad was a great Indian revolutionary who reorganized the Hindustan Republican Association and  is considered to be the mentor of Bhagat Singh and chief strategist of the HSRA.

The Mahabharata is one of the major Sanskrit epics of ancient India.

It is an epic narrative of the Kurukshetra war, fought between cousins on the two sides for the throne of Hastinapur. It includes intrigues, philosophy, vengeance, conspiracies and all sorts of human emotions. It has lessons for every walk of life. The greatest of all, it contains the legendary dialogue of Krishna and Arjuna known as the Bhagavad Gita.

It is roughly ten times the length of the Iliad and the Odyssey combined. It is the longest known epic poem and has been described as "the longest poem ever written".
