A Jet Blue flight attendant was caught today allegedly trying to smuggle 68 pounds of cocaine on a flight from New York to Los Angeles. Although typically not screened, she was taken aside for a random security check.

New law effective January 1, 2016 will expand the number of DUI revoked and suspended drivers who will be eligible for driving privileges in Illinois. This law was the result of negotiations between the Illinois State Bar Association ("ISBA"), the Illinois Secretary of State's office and grass-root advocacy groups. Larry A. Davis of The Davis Law Group, P.C. led negotiations on behalf of the ISBA.

This is a favorable law, which allows individuals facing a lifetime revocation of their driver's license, as the result of multiple DUIs, a chance to drive legally to support themselves and their families. Among many other requirements, the driver must complete all recommended treatment, a hearing before the Secretary of State, and drive with breath ignition interlock device in their vehicle at all times.

Important legislation was signed today by Governor Rauner. The bill, authored by attorney Larry A. Davis, gives deserving individuals who currently have lifetime revocations, as the result of multiple DUIs, the opportunity to drive legally in order to support themselves and their families after a hearing before the Secretary of State. It is a step in the right direction.
