Anyone has any idea about getting into Wohnungsgenossenschaften in Berlin? Should I just join a bunch of them an hope something frees up?

It appears that +SourceForge took over the control of the 'GIMP for Windows' account and is now distributing an ads-enabled installer of GIMP. They also locked out original owner of the account, Jernej Simončič, who has been building the Windows versions of GIMP for our project for years.

So far they haven't replied to provide explanations. Therefore, we remind you again that GIMP only provides builds for WIndows via its official Downloads page.
Source for version 2.8 (Stable). GIMP releases available from gimp.org and its mirrors contain the source code and have to be compiled in order to be installed on your system. For instructions, how to build GIMP from source code, please see this page.

so anyone here has experience with making in-game level editors with unity? so that the player can construct a level and then play it?

We're thinking that exact same thing ourselves... My current idea, is to wrap up the bulk of engine code in a DLL, write a scene serializer, and then have a special build that is just a template level, linked to pre-compiled code. Simplistic, but should work ok? Ideally, users can build levels, and just save/load them to text files.

Might be a dumb question, but how do I use mesh renderers in unity's 2d mode? Im trying to use this http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/field-of-view-2d-based-on-ray-tracing-free-package.169476/ with my 2d mode game.

The logic is super simple, I just have no idea about mesh renderers in 2d mode, been using sprites renderers only so far.

so slack is the latest hip thing which all the cool kids are using and is basically a modern version of irc.

I'm trying it out with a group channel for indie game devs, anyone wants in? Just need your email address and I'll send you an invite.

hey,
so i'm working on a realtime multiplayer prototype (using unity) & its seems there are a lot of 3rd party solutions for networked MP (like photon), but nowhere did I actually see why you'd use those instead of the built-in unity networking APIs (which seem to do pretty much the same and are about as easy to use).
Anyone that tried doing mp with unity and can enlighten me about that?
-ido.

you would use PUN over the built in stuff because it supports servers rather than peer to peer. But then the server just acts as a redirect for the P2P stuff. I dunno really, I used it because I found the connection/discovery stuff less fragile than what is built into unity (the master server).

This was just for a week long jam though, long term, and with more users, I suspect it would be best just to code your own discovery server and use the built in unity stuff (as long as you aren't worried about cheating or whatever)

We're still looking for a flat in berlin! minimum 60m2, 2 or 3 rooms, maximum 700 eur warmmiete. Good public transit connections (u-bahn, s-bahn or trams within ~10 walking distance) a must. Looking to move in in may.

Preferably in a location with low probabilities of having swastikas painted on our door and/or getting stabbed by junkies when walking at night.

Vienna is safer, no doubt about (also cleaner and prettier).
