Google should just drop them from their end, then we'd see how they like that... they still don't get info overabundance, which isn't surprising, as u.s. newspapers/media have barely started to get it either, and they are about 3-5 years ahead in the stages of grief process on this...
They're obviously disingenuous about this. They want to keep getting the traffic AND get paid by google for their precious headlines. They know full well if they tagged their pages nofollow, google wouldn't index their articles. It's a phoney, desperate ploy for a revenue stream as their business dries up.
