Tomorrow we will be discussing the results of the IoT Developer Survey. It is also IoT Day so a good time for all things IoT.

We have been collecting interesting data on the current trends in IoT, and we want to celebrate the Global IoT Day with you all and share some of our key (and sometimes surprising) findings.
This Hangout On Air is hosted by Eclipse Foundation. The live video broadcast will begin soon.

Google Plus sometimes perplexes me. I was experimenting with Google Hangouts. I created a private hangout called EclipseCon. I then deleted the Hangout. It seems people could see I deleted a private hangout and think I canceled EclipseCon.  This is certainly not the case.

EclipseCon is going to be awesome. Plan to attend March 9-12. Google Plus not so much. :-(

I expect you created an Event and had it as a planned Hangout, which actually will create a Google Calendar Event that is public I believe.  If you just want to play around with Hangouts without creating an event, use the Qutation Mark bubble in the upper right corner, select Video Hangout, and it'll create a hangout that way.  If you don't specify people to invite it will be a private hangout with no participants.

If you want hangouts to only go to specific people, then create a Circle or specify individuals.  If you have a Circle that contains people's email addresses then it will send an email invite to them for the hangout.

I absolutely hate how Google+ makes recommendations based on who I email using gmail.  It just doesn't inspire me to use gmail.   #privacy

Eclipse Paho and Mosquitto have just released new version of their MQTT projects. This is an important milestone for the projects and MQTT. It is also a great case study on why open source and open standards will drive adoption for IoT.

I am really looking forward to the Eclipse IoT Day on March 11. The agenda is awesome and hits on the key IoT topics: security, device mgmt, apis and standards. It is also going to be a great opportunity to meet a lot of the project leaders.  Join us in California.
