Now that Google #IO2015 is over I've had a chance to sort through several hundred photos I took over 2 days of an unforgettable event. I'm going to be sharing my personal highlights in a series of mini photo essays and I'm starting with +Google Cloud Platform.

This year the highlight was unquestionably a super popular talk by +Brian Dorsey on using 'Containers to back your mobile app'. I was thrilled to be able to see Brian speak in person to packed alcoves on both days of the conference. It was great to see so many developers excited and engaged about using containers in their own apps and the questions came in thick and fast at the end of the talk.

Didn't get a chance to make it? No problem, there's a growing mountain of excellent resources building around the main system that Brian covered in the talk called +Kubernetes at http://kubernetes.io/ including plenty of information about how to get started and involved in one of the most exciting open source communities right now!

Nice. Besides High CPU, the prices of all Compute Engine instance types are down at least 15%

This is a cool blog post about how to do cluster logging using fluentd in Kubernetes.
A Kubernetes cluster will typically be humming along running many system and application pods. How does the system administrator collect, manage and query the logs of the system pods? How does a user query the logs of their a...

I like how Colt adds lots of fun things to the videos like that position switch, and video clips of videos he's done. I also like how he adds easter eggs to the videos. Like putting on a flannel shirt at a random time :)

I really feel strongly about this too. It's because I'm a bad driver. I am more dangerous on the road than I am comfortable with. I think that there are many, many people who are even more dangerous than me.

I feel strongly that people of the future where driverless cars are ubiquitous will look on the past where people drove their own cars (sometimes while drunk) as scary, reckless, and unthinkable.

Much of the recent "self-driving cars get in accidents" coverage felt off to me. This piece does a good job of explaining why. I've ridden in a self-driving car and I pass them all the time in my own car. I can't wait for them. I've seen way too many bad drivers, so I'm looking forward to the better safety and technology that will come with self-driving cars.
This is terrible journalism designed to upset you. Google's program and the data we have are cause for great optimism, and at this point, only optimism.

Had a tomato and basil base pasta lunch. Salad had lots of hard vegetables and the dressing was bitter but of good quality. Pumpkin soup was quite good. Pasta is of good quality and delicious but comes in small portions.
