Dear Californians: please sign the petition to make clear that you stand against fascism
If Donald Trump was elected President of the United States, the policies he would seek to enact would be destructive to democracy, human rights and world peace. His views run strongly counter to the views of Californians; were he President then California shall pursue an independent destiny.

Note that this speedup is constant-factor versus QMC and only applies to the problem of simulating the D-Wave device itself. It's not stated whether this factor survives Chimera embedding of a practical problem nor how it compares to better classical algorithms (e.g., Selby). http://www.scottaaronson.com/blog/?p=2555

When hollywood actually informs reality: U.S. military leadership thinks Elon Musk really *is* Iron Man
Elon Musk has never shied away from comparisons with superhero Tony Stark, but his most recent joke on the subject is pretty on the nose, even for him. Responding to a story from CNN that pondered...

No, it needs 15 chat apps! Moar chat apps please!
Google released Allo, Duo and Spaces in the span of one week, adding to the existing Messenger and Hangouts. That's too many chat apps for one company.

I like it! Just because your data center should be a sterile environment doesn't mean it has to look like one :)
Data centers are boring places. Even Google's massive facilities — with all the colorful walls and pipes inside — can get a little stale and repetitive. So to liven up the vibe a little bit, the...

Powerwall is a big bet, "If energy can be sold back to the grid at a high price, it will be more attractive than energy storage for homeowners with rooftop solar."
The benefits and risks of being tied to rooftop solar.

The company buying your solar energy has a monopoly and no particular incentive to price competitively, especially when depressing prices keeps you more dependent on their infrastructure and service. If we had an efficient market for surplus home solar energy, I think we'd see more emphasis on artificial hydro (e.g., Switzerland is a battery; they create artificial lakes in the mountains so they can pump water up when energy is cheap).
