Main points. This article provides analysis on people in persistent poverty and their associated characteristics. It shows that: In 2013, 7.8% of the UK population were considered to be in persistent income poverty, equivalent to around 4.6 million people. Persistent poverty is defined as being ...

But it was still above the EU average, on the overal rate, when Labour left office. Plus, it's true the persistent rate rose in the year 2011-12, but only to same figure as it was in 2008, after which it shows a downward trend at roughly the same rate as before.

Britain needs a pay rise

Well the bankers need a pay cut

The UK is now the most unequal country in Europe, in terms of wages and income distribution, according to a new report by the Dublin Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions, which is the EU’s official think tank on life at work. Not only that, but the rise in inequality is so…

I was merely pointing out the misleading nature of the article +Ian Dixon.

Using data up to 2011 does not mean 'now', as in "Britain now most unequal EU country, says official report". As far as I'm aware there is no data available that's sufficiently up-to-date to make a reliable article on so called inequality. If there was, I'm sure that would have been used instead.

What the IFS Inequality figures do tell us, is that between 2009/10 and 2011/12 the rate dropped to roughly the same level as in 1990, having reached a peak between 2007 and 2009.

Add schools to what they will privatise

Well except for Eton which can continue as a supposed charity to bring on the next generation of Tory politicians
Hundreds schools in England deemed to require improvement could be taken over and turned into academies under plans soon to be announced by the government.

Sausage and Egg Butty

One of my quick lunchtime favourites which is also good as a lunch-2-go
This Sausage and Egg Butty is something that can quickly be prepared for lunch by using things already cooked from the previous day.

Football fans, read this then send the emails

The 2022 World Cup in Quatar might be a long way off but construction work has already begun amid dreadful working conditions.

Read the article to see what I mean then send the email to the sponsors

FIFA President Sepp Blatter spent a weekend earlier this year with the Emir of Qatar at the Al Bahr palace in Doha. It wasn't his first visit to the Emir’s Palace. Since the 2022 World Cup was controversially awarded to Qatar in December 2010, numerous meetings have taken place, modern day slavery has been exposed and reforms have been promised. But what Sepp Blatter didn’t see in Qatar is that nothing has changed for workers. The walled Al Bahr ...

Are the Left really sore losers?

Perhaps not as sore as those who will suffer under the new government.

Reminds me of the old slogan
_They say cutback, We say fightback*

h/t +Michelle Bridge for sharing the the article

Left-wingers just won't stop complaining about the new Conservative government

Chickeny Cauliflower Mac n Cheese

Vegetarian despite having chicken in the title. I used chicken style pieces that are meat free rather than actual chicken.

Sort of a combination of Cauliflower Cheese and Mac n Cheese with some carrots to add colour.

Recipe at http://experimentalchefs.com/chickeny-cauliflower-mac-n-cheese/
It is a Chickeny Cauliflower Mac n Cheese because there is no actual chicken in it. It is a vegetarian version that uses chicken-style pieces instead. Lazy version too because I use a can of Mac n Cheese when it is quite easy to make it from the basic ingredients.… Continue reading

I quite often put quorn in my pasta and cheese - too bland to eat it on the side.  A teaspoon of marmite in the cheese sauce too - really pops the flavour :)

Business Consultant, Author, Recipe writer and Computer Programmer
Skills
One of my main skills is an ability to nudge people in the right direction. I may know part of the answer to the question that they ask so I will respond with what I do know. That then gives the person asking the question something to think on and research further. They then find the answer that they need and learn in the process. Sometimes I will even give a partial answer so people asking have to look further for themselves. That is the way to learn
