Goodbye, internet! Time for +Ian Decker and I to leave for 28 days on a trip down the Mississippi River, from the headwaters at Lake Itasca to the Minnesota/Iowa border.
We'll be taking lots of pictures and journaling the whole trip, but that won't be online until the end of the trip. In the meantime you can check out https://sites.google.com/site/theianchallenge2/home to donate in our name to the Michael J Fox foundation. You can also follow along with where we are planning on being with our float plan: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-fV0qEiWzqzdlew4zR11Sm2edMdKJMnUdXT9N6KNzfY/ Maybe come down to the river and wave as we go by your home town.

Yet another tale of scarcity in a digital age. I don't like this trend.
After more than two years in development, Necrosoft Games' Oh Deer! will be released on PlayStation Mobile next week. And just a few weeks later, it will disappear. That's because PlayStation Mobile,...

+Eric Buck gave me a waterproof camera for the canoe trip, so I tested it out a bit. It works in a bowl of water, takes pictures and video. Good enough for me!

First time using a car2go went pretty well! We used it to move some stuff from +Anna Haslow's apartment to our house and to go grocery shopping.
It feels way different than any other car I have driven. Turn radius is amazing, obviously. Acceleration is not, obviously. Things I wasn't expecting: it has way less initial pull when putting it in drive and not touching the pedal than other automatics; it lurches when shifting gears; it appears to have no way to interface with my phone; it doesn't feel cramped when sitting inside; and once when I started it the combustion engine didn't seem to start, and it would only travel backwards very slowly until I restarted.

I know, right? Most disappointing thing about it so far. I don't want to listen to the radio and I certainly don't want to use whatever navigation system they have.

I wonder what river this is.

I don't know. I'm guessing it's a river on Earth which also contains the fluid known as water. Obviously, it flows north as well.

This was our first time at Art in the Hollow, and we had a good time! I found a painting on glass of the St Paul skyline that I like, my sisters got their faces painted, and we enjoyed watching the dances by students from the American Indian Magnet school.
The videos are pretty choppy because my phone was overheating.

Introduction
I am a nerd in just about every sense of the word. My closest companions are my computers, I have forgotten more about Star Wars than most people ever know, and I have an addiction to video games.
That said, I still enjoy being outdoors and I have been in the Boy Scouts since 1st grade. I am an Eagle Scout and I have worked at a Cub Scout Camp since 2010.

Relatively small museum, but they manage to pack in a lot of information into the space. The audio tour helps give structure to a visit, and if you have a mobile device it is available for free. We managed to get in free (not sure why, but we suspect it is because we went after 5pm).

Clean, friendly staff, well situated. It is very small (the kitchen in particular is quite cramped) but for the price they charge I can't complain.

Adorable little place! Friendly staff, very small-scale. It was stuffy inside (I don't think they had turned on the AC yet), so we ate at the tables out front. The pizza wasn't as filling as I was expecting, but it tasted very good!

There are two factors that determine how much one will enjoy a museum: personal interest in the subject, and the way the information is presented. Vasa earns top marks on both. The whole museum is dedicated to a ship that sank in Stockholm harbor in 1628, and was raised and preserved in the 1970s. The museum is designed masterfully: the ship itself is visible from almost every exhibit, no matter what floor you are on. Every time I thought I had seen all there was, the next floor would surprise me with new information and a new angle from which to see the Vasa.
