When I stood on the shore of Lago Argentino, staring at a 240 ft tall wall of ice resplendent in a vivid hue of blue, the sun glistening off mountains of pure white snow behind, I felt like I was in another world entirely. A world far from the sun, bitterly cold and hostile, yet so thoroughly captivating you almost forget this discomfort. In 2012 I was fortunate to live briefly in Argentina and to visit the glaciers on Lago Argentino. This collection records the spectacular landscapes this wonderful part of the world has to offer: views of ice as far as the eye can see; of electric blue icebergs floating on calm waters; and of snow-capped mountains in all directions. In 2012 I spent three months in Argentina studying Spanish in Buenos Aires. I found the lessons difficult and exhausting, limiting my enjoyment of a great city. But outside of Buenos Aires I found peace, tranquility, and some of the most spectacular views I've ever had the fortune to see, from the dry plains of Mendoza to the gigantic glaciers of Patagonia.
