Ryan is right. Jargon has infected legions of otherwise normal business people, not just management consultants. Writers must battle this threat to our nation's intellectual health every day. Like surgeons, we need first to cut out the bullshit. Then, perhaps, we can help our patients recover their clarity of thought and expression.

Excellent post by +Jess Shanahan on #motorsport  (and the stupidity of some 'boys' who think that someone's sex affects their ability to master the intricacies of the combustion engine - or any other subject for that matter).
"Subtle jibes, 'compliments', little taps on the bum..." Jess Shanahan explains how women in motorsport are responding to sexism in the industry.

Is the #European  project fatally wounded as this interesting long read suggests? Or will the crisis renew the drive for increased integration? #UKinEU  - or #Brexit ? - That is the question.
The European Project flamed out as a motivating force in history long ago and is descending into existential crisis. All illusions that the EU can run as a centralised political union have died

Do you sometimes feel baffled by how new technology works? You are not alone; yet you almost certainly appreciate new technology that works well. That is why tech businesses need both skilled developers and talented creatives.

I just used IBM's Watson to analyse 12800 words from my personal blogs over the last two years. The results are interesting (flattering - otherwise I wouldn't publish them):

"Summary
You are heartfelt, rational and restrained.
You are empathetic: you feel what others feel and are compassionate towards them. You are self-controlled: you have control over your desires, which are not particularly intense. And you are self-assured: you tend to feel calm and self-assured.
Experiences that give a sense of self-expression hold some appeal to you.
You are relatively unconcerned with tradition: you care more about making your own path than following what others have done. You consider independence to guide a large part of what you do: you like to set your own goals to decide how to best achieve them."

However - it also says I am likely to click on an ad (which I never do) - and that I'm unlikely to reply on social media (which seems a bit unfair).

That said, it was an interesting experiment - you can try it here https://watson-pi-demo.mybluemix.net/
The scores you see are all percentiles. They are comparing one person to a broader population. For example, a 90% on Extraversion does not mean that the person is 90% extroverted. It means that for that single trait, the person is more extroverted than 90% of the people in the population.

Story

Helping your business create engaging conversations that empower people, build brands and inspire change.
Introduction

You want to engage with your customers, employees, investors and suppliers. But do you really have the time to create the content to spark those conversations? Probably not - and that's where we can help.

Our clients across Europe have one thing in common. Although they operate in different sectors, they share a desire for relevant communications that empower people, build brands, and inspire change.

We help them by transforming their ideas into clear, engaging and effective communications - and we can do the same for you. Whether interviewing senior executives, private clients or factory workers, we combine tact and discretion with empathy. This enables us to build trust and so gain open and honest feedback.

We create compelling narratives that motivate and inspire the people who matter to you. Often serious, sometimes passionate, occasionally light-hearted but always relevant; these stories connect readers with the heart of your business. We can also provide personalised or small group training to help you develop engaging conversations on social media.

Clients value our ability to gather and analyse business intelligence from numerous sources. This helps us to create informed articles and reports for you. It can also give you additional insights into specific projects.

Our experience of working with FTSE 100 companies and SMEs means we have a good understanding of your communication needs. We know how to listen, so as to understand what your stakeholders want to hear. And, by sharing your vision, we aim to help you develop an authentic voice that resonates with your most valued audiences.

Discover how we can help you engage with your audiences. Let's start the conversation today.

Lovely café - delicious fish and chips - excellent coffee and hot chocolate - friendly employees - and great views - perfect any time of year. Gorleston also has one of the best beaches in Norfolk but please don't tell anyone because it would be a shame if the crowds ruined it.

Excellent hotel and great value. Spotlessly clean; friendly team; surprisingly quiet (despite being beside a main road); air-con in every room, free wi-fi - and of course a super comfortable bed (with a choice of pillows). The walk along the Stratford-on-Avon canal out of town (toward Birmingham) is an added bonus. If you feel like stretching your legs after a long drive, head for the Mary Arden pub in Wilmcot. It's 3-miles along the tow-path, gently rising all the way to just past lock 40. But that does mean it's down-hill on the way back. Beautiful on a warm summer's evening (and the pint of Green King IPA at the Mary Arden was most welcome). The going under foot is gravely and a bit uneven at times but otherwise smooth all the way. Within 10 minutes you have left the town and busy roads behind and are surrounded by the woods and fields of Warwickshire. When you get back you can treat yourself to another pint (please drink responsibly) and a meal in the Thyme restaurant - which looks good value with plenty of choice. Enjoy. @HuwSayer

We have now used Jason three times and every time the service has been excellent - fast, efficient and great value. If you run a small business, this is just the sort of calm, reliable and professional IT support you need when disaster strikes. Even if it doesn't, you should ask Jason to give your old PC a service before you consider buying a new one - you'll be pleasantly surprised with the results.
