I came for a funeral. I didn't even know about this place. I was immediately impressed by the stately appearance of the building's exterior. That feeling continued as I entered and enjoyed the elegant furniture and decor. The room we met in for the funeral was nice. On the way out I peeked into some of the other rooms. They looked even nicer. A man I met there said his son had his wedding reception there.

This hotel is sadly far, far outdated, and in desperate need of a major renovation. There is some charm to the old ornate wood decor in the lobby, but the rooms are dingy and outdated, and the carpeting should probably have been replaced 3 steam cleanings ago (there comes a point when you just can't save it). It's a nice jump off point to Minnewaska State Park, and the surrounding area has some of the most stunning views the Hudson Valley has to offer. I wanted to like this place, and the staff were generally very amiable and polite, but the poor amenities were just too glaring to overlook.

Must have been beautiful at one point. Run down and old now. Better this year than last though.

Decor and architecture are wonderfully stuck in the 60s/70s. Love the old theaters, and make sure to check out the vintage game room downstairs!

All I can say is wow! I never thought it was possible for a hotel to be THIS bad, until I saw this one. The hotel had bugs everywhere (including the rooms). I litterely slept with all sorts of bugs including lady bugs, flies, and a variety of different types of bees. The gift shop didn't have any change because the cash register was broken. If you are in the neighborhood and you are looking for a hotel, DO NOT come to this one, unless you want to be eaten alive by bugs, and not have any memories of the trip. DO NOT COME TO THIS HOTEL!!!!!!!!!

As a local resident I appreciate the day pass or monthly membership. It is disheartening to see the ceilings leaking in the lobby and indoor pool area. Also in the spa above the Jacuzzi you can see into the hardware above which could be dangerous and it leaves a feeling of exposure. All in all the experience is relaxing which is my goal when I venture there. The staff are always pleasant and accomadating as well.

There's alot of flaws. It's VERY VERY OLD.The game room is from isn't even updated they have games from the 90's and 80's . The room it self had ripped rug and bad furniture. Little to No security. So bad random people are able to walk in the hotel any time they want an join tge activities with in the hotel. THE WORK OUT ROOM IS HORRIBLE!! DO NOT GO THERE. THEY LITERALLY HAVE OUTDATED EQUIPMENT. so bad i almost messed up my knee in there old ass treadmill. The food is good but they serve to much fattying food that by dinner you can barley eat anything. The measurements of the pool is not corret is says five feet but its not i say 6 feet. The lobby and the spa was the only good part of it . Nothing but old people working here while the young people are server's and the so called "gift shop was wack" everything has tax on it so PLEASE DON'T COME HERE FOR YOUR SENIOR TRIP AS A SENIOR CLASS OF 2016 THIS HOTEL WAS HORRIBLE. We all had to make the best of it. I REPEAT DO NOT COME HERE

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with the details of your visit to our property. We apologize that your experience was not what you expected, and we regret if we failed to live up to our own standards of excellence during your stay. The Hudson Valley Resort is a historic property. At one time, the Catskills region was a very popular vacation destination and a great number of grand resorts were built to accommodate the millions of travelers who came each year to enjoy the peaceful natural setting and majestic mountain scenery. But times have changed, and in recent years tourism to the region has declined significantly. We've watched the river of travelers which once flowed to the Catskills slow to a trickle, and many of the grand old resorts have been forced to shutter their doors. We’re proud to carry on the great Catskill resort tradition, however, and we work hard to ensure that each of our guests has an exceptional experience. As one of the only Catskills resorts remaining in operation, we’re faced with the tremendous challenge of maintaining an enormous property built to accommodate many times more guests than the number of travelers we see today. We still accommodate tens of thousands of visitors each year. The overwhelming majority of our guests truly enjoy their time with us, and we love having them return year after year. The observations made in your review are the exception to the rule, and we do apologize for your inconvenience. I can assure you that our resort is continually maintained and improved. Do a few minor problems escape our careful eye from time to time? Undoubtedly. With more than 350 guestrooms and 40,000 square feet of public area, we encourage our guests to report any deficiencies they may encounter during their stay so that our maintenance team can quickly remedy the situation. We work hard to constantly improve our property. It is regretful that you did not allow us the opportunity to address your concerns while you were staying with us, and that you have neglected to include your room number in your review. Without this information, it will be difficult for us to evaluate and rectify your concerns. However, I am able to address your more general observations. While our game room does include a number of classic games which appeal to our older guest’s nostalgia, we do offer newer games for our younger guests to enjoy. We serve a diverse customer base, and try to provide a selection of titles which will offer enjoyment for all. It's difficult for us to speak to your observations regarding security at the resort, as the safety and security of our guests is out top concern. Our security systems and procedures exceed industry standards, and includes the use of video surveillance, electronic access control, manned security patrols, and 24-7 emergency response. While the equipment in our exercise room may not have been up to your personal standards, I can assure you that each item is routinely maintained and in good repair. Outdated or malfunctioning equipment is routinely replaced as needed to best serve the needs of our guests. I can assure you that the measurements indicated on our heated indoor pool accurately reflect the actual dimensions guests can expect. We apologize if you felt otherwise. Our gift shop is required by to collect sales tax on most consumer goods in accordance with New York State and local law. While you may have felt that this practice is "wack", I regret to inform you that it is a standard and required policy for every businesses operating in New York State. We thank you for visiting the Hudson Valley Resort & Spa, but we regret that you did not enjoy your stay. While your experience may not have met your personal expectations, we do hope that you will choose to return. We would welcome the opportunity to show you just how enjoyable a visit to the Hudson Valley Resort really can be.
