With an endless supply of food options, and federal regulations that are often lacking, how do you know who to trust?! That's where HowGood comes in..

Check out New Republic's feature on how we "factor in how the animals were raised, on what kind of land, and what they were fed, how the people who work in the company are paid and where they get their health care, how much fuel the trucks use to get to the market, whether the boxes or labels use recycled material, whether their subcontractors pay health insurance and attend town meetings."๏ปฟ

Check out our latest blog post SAVING SEEDS: THE FUTURE OF OUR FOOD & get smart on the important work our friends at Seed Savers Exchange and Hudson Valley Seed Library are doing๐ŸŒฑ

// #getenlightened #sustainability #onthetable๏ปฟ
There is a new unsung hero in our midst: the seed saver. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, more than 90% of crop varieties have disappeared from farmersโ€™ fields globally since the turn of the 20th century. This dramatic decline in agrobiodiversity has been accelerated by large-scale farmers continuously turning to a more predictable homogenized offering of genetically uniform, high-yielding var...

DID YOU KNOW: Supermarkets throw away 500-1500 lbs of food each day! California Safe Soil is revolutionizing that by turning these tossed veggies into liquid fertilizer, which is used in farmers' drip irrigation lines to grow the next round of organic crops. This reduces the crops' need for water by 25%, increases produce yields by 20-40%, reduces chemical fertilizers by 50% and is sold at half the cost!

So while food waste is proactively being recycled & diverted from landfills, it's also increasing soil health & producing more nutrient-dense food. We thinks this is pretty brilliant ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ‘‰ MORE PEOPLE EAT BUGS THAN SPEAK ENGLISH! Think spicy grasshopper tacos in Mexico, deep-fried locusts in China, and beetles throughout the tropics. With our rapidly growing global population, it's the perfect protein alternative to high-impact factory farming. Let's all thank @exoprotein for their sustainable, satisfying & seriously delicious (really, we sampled them at our research HQ) cricket flour protein bars. (And, yes, they're made of crickets.) You gotta try the Peanut Butter & Jelly bar ๐Ÿ˜‹

Read more about this fabulous #bugfood on our blog below ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿœ๏ปฟ
A batch of entrepreneurs has sprung up with a new industry aimed at taking the edge off global hunger: cricket flour. To the Western palate, edible insects are foreign. For over two billion others worldwide, some two thousand different species of insects already show up in their diets. Weโ€™re talking spicy grasshopper tacos in Mexico, deep-fried locusts in China, and beetles throughout the tropics. For the business-folk who are mark...
