Here is the early issue from Facets April 2017, a series of articles "Women of Faith" I am on of the interviewees.  Please enjoy.  It's rather interesting for me to read about me from the reporters perspective. Remember, I am the only Bhikshuni in Iowa.  Sh...

Sangha with Pets with painful terminal illnesses facing the reality of euthanasia
My sympathies for your plight.  As Vinaya Sangha we support life, but when we see such wretched suffering in our dear companion pets, we are as torn as any one else would be.  It's grief, very powerful and painful for our pets are sentient beings. I had alw...

When we moved to our apartment she loved picking play fights with my daughter. She started this one, and even knocked her down by leaping a great leap and hitting her right in the belly!

I asked her for a kiss, and it was always a toss up if she would kiss or bite your nose hard (nip hard). So I said "I love you" hoping for a sweet nose kiss and got one!

Dec 22 2005, we adopted her and brought her home from the vets after being spayed and front paw declawed. She was carried about her gramma's house by my daughter for 2 weeks because Liz was afraid the dog would hurt her (she wouldn't and didn't later).

My temple kitty has past away, last night Dec 31, 2016. Pepper was 11 years old, Dec 30 we learned she has end stage pancreatic cancer. Enjoy my photos of her amazing life as a temple kitty. My daughter's first pet, our first house kitty. My beloved companion is pain-free and free to roam paradise. Amituofo!

Walking skeletons in robes the unhealthy portrayed as ideals in Sangha imagery
I read with disgust in the Karmans of the Creation of Virtue in a footnote about encouraging monastics to be healthy, eat healthy and maintain a healthy body weight. It was just a good supportive comment but it raises important issues about health and image...

www.usasangha.org is the online website for the new USA Sangha Council. I'm preparing the forms for download, the links for the online meetings, and as this group is also, only open to fully ordained sangha, the more general organization for other traditions such as Theravada and non Bhikshuni lines in same and Tibetan Buddhism, this also includes Japanese Buddhists who are 24/7 monastics only no clergy, and no laity. Voting rights are open to individual members not temples or their associations. Temples and associations of Sangha are allowed as non-voting members.
