I love to repurpose and reuse items in my home, so I don't have to throw them away. I especially like it when I can figure out cool ways to use common items for storing stuff. So when a reader, Susie, shared this picture with me I knew I had to share it with you too. Check out how she repurposes old pill bottles to store small items. She says: "Here are a few uses for those empty prescription bottles other than the landfill." As you can see from the photo she stores "everything from bobbie pins and push pins to loose change and iphone accessories. If only rx's came in squared off containers! ...Screws, bandaids, q-tips, flea meds, lol."

Do you do something similar to reuse small containers in your home? I know in the past on the page we've seen ideas for using old Tic Tac containers, Altoid tins, and even baby wipes boxes. I'd love to hear your ideas as well! I also love to see photos. You can submit them in the comments or directly onto the page.

The best photos will be featured on the page and in the Home Storage Solutions 101 Home #Organization Hall of Fame.

Look at this ingenious way that a reader, Charis, stores her flat iron so it doesn't take up room on her bathroom counter.

She explained, "I hang my flat iron on this sponge-holder...made for the kitchen sink! Instead, I suction it to my mirror next to the outlet, and I can hang my flat iron over it while it heats and cools, without it touching or burning anything! It stores it nicely, up and away from the bathroom counter."

How do you store and #organize your hair styling products, from the items you plug in like hair dryers, curling irons and more, as well as brushes, combs, etc. I'd love to see your pictures. You can submit them in the comments or directly onto the page.

The best pictures will be featured here on the page and also in the Home Storage Solutions 101 Home Organization Hall of Fame.

We're still doing the spring decluttering series on Home Storage Solutions 101 and today I really want us to think about what clutter is. I've listed 5 guidelines you should think about when deciding if something might be clutter in your home. My favorite of these guidelines -- if you don't use it or love it, it's clutter. What guideline speaks to you?

Loose knives in a drawer can be a recipe for disaster, but sometimes a drawer is the only place you can store them. Here's how a reader, Lorie, solved this dilemma. She and her husband made their own magnetic knife block for their drawer.

Lorie said, "Here is my solution to having to keep knives in a drawer. My husband cut wood to measure between the side of the drawer and the length of the knife blades. Then sanded them down. I added adhesive magnetic strips, then used heavy duty adhesive back velcro to keep the blocks in place in the drawer. Works great!"

Looks great Lorie! How do you store your kitchen knives? I'd love to see pictures. You can submit them in the comments or directly onto the page. The best photos will be featured on the page and also in the Home Storage Solutions 101 Home #Organization Hall of Fame.

Do you have cookware that you are really proud of? If so, you may want to consider displaying it in your kitchen for a lovely decoration as well as being a great way to store items and keep them handy at the same time.

A reader, Sally, shared how she stored and organized her cast iron cookware. She said, "This is how I have my cast iron hanging in my kitchen. I love the way it looks and it is so accessible."

This obviously is only a good idea if your pots and pans look pretty, not all beat up, so this isn't for everyone. But I have to say I really like the way this looks. Great job Sally!

How do you store your pots and pans? I'd love to see pictures. You can submit your photos in the comments or directly onto the page, and the best ones will be featured on the page and also in the Home Storage Solutions 101 Home Organization Hall of Fame.

Find A Place For Everything In Your Home That Matters
Introduction
Home Storage Solutions 101 is the home of the 52 Week Organized Home Challenge, in which, you guessed it, we organize our homes over the course of 1 year, with one challenge a week.

We just hit the 40,000 mark for participants signed up, and I'd love for you to join us, if you haven't already.

In addition to organizing our homes slowly, one little area or type of item at a time, I like to find all kinds of home storage solutions you can use throughout your home. These can range from items you buy, reuse, repurpose, recycle, or just get completely creative with!

I'm a big fan of anything that has multiple functions, like decorative storage, or furniture that doubles as a place to store something!

We find the best ways to cut the clutter, organize the stuff you've got left, and fit it all in your home comfortably and beautifully so you and your family can enjoy your home all the time!
