I felt this was a totally decent hotel for sure. We didn't book the Roosevelt so we were not expecting the Roosevelt but it was clean, friendly, the street itself might not have been very desirable but we weren't hanging out on the street, lol. We were super close to the Metro and it was very easy to get around. I felt plenty safe around there with my 9 year old son and my 77 year old Mother. Sometimes we did have a bit of an early day and returned to the Hotel to hang out. We used the communal patio on the 2nd floor to enjoy a glass of wine, had the opportunity to get in the pool a couple of times, enjoyed a bit of the open mic in the bar one night and even managed to catch Happy Hour once! The beds were comfy and there was plenty of space in the room for the 3 of us for the week we spent there. Overall, I would not hesitate to stay at The Hollywood Hotel again if I were to ever go back to LA.

This was not a bad hotel. The area was nice. We were only in our room 5-6 hours a day for 6 days. We had two minor problems when we were there, but the staff was good at fixing the problems quickly. The staff was very friendly. We had to change rooms because of a problem and the staff warned me that it might be to noisy for me on the front side. I told her that's fine because I knew we were going to be gone a lot. To my surprise, it didn't bother us, but I appreciate her for warning me. It wasn't really to loud. I thought the area was a bad one, but it wasn't. Our time in California was a great adventure. I miss that California sun.

A friendly, clean and comfortable hotel in a location central to many activities. Probably not the best neighbourhood for some but we never felt unsafe. Great breakfast available, which makes the price very reasonable. Staff a very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again, for sure.

We were pleased with the overall experience. The staff was AMAZING! Helpful, informative and always with a smile. Our room was clean. The price was reasonable. We greatly appreciated the complimentary breakfast. Omelets were prepared perfectly by Hugo!

Stayed here for 2 nights for a birthday celebration. The location is great- close to everything. The hotel itself is really nice, upscale, clean, great service. I requested chocolate covered strawberries & a birthday note for my girlfriend and they had a welcome/happy birthday card waiting for him in the room & complimentary champagne! Unheard of right? It was very sweet of them! I will be staying here again for sure. Thank you for the great hospitality!

If you are going to stay here make sure you call or otherwise confirm that you will be receiving one of their newly renovated rooms. We had the great misfortune to be booked in one of their non-renovated rooms and it was an outdated, drafty, uncomfortable experience. The only reason I gave two stars was for the manager's handling of the situation and the room upgrade they offered us for our second night there. The room upgrade was to a room the same size as our previous one, just a floor up and newly renovated. A few other cons: -wifi here is virtually non existent. They have an "IT" but he/she does not really know how to do anything more than basic troubleshooting. -water in our first room (located on the bottom floor) did not get hot, just warm. -rooms on bottom floor were drafty and you have to use a SPACE HEATER to heat up the room... -rooms on bottom floor were loud, you could hear all doors opening/closing, guests' conversations as they walked by, and the incessant renovations in the hallway. Additionally our room was right next to the patio bar, thankfully the bar was not open during our stay though we were awoken quite early by them dragging a heavy table out from behind the bar. -front desk staff are hit or miss... manager was great but all other staff we interacted with were less than enthusiastic about customer service. -the area this is in is less than enticing... not much to walk to and when the sun went down there seemed to be all manner of unsavory characters loitering in groups. Pros: -great pool... very clean and quiet. -breakfast was pretty nice, omelette bar was a nice idea but took forever to get through the line (about 30 minutes from getting in line to getting our omelettes). -great parking rates with a big, clean parking lot.

This hotel is way overpriced for what you get. The rooms are ridiculously small...no closet. The door to the bathroom had mold and decay on the bottom. The in room refrigerator did not work, we inquired about it and was told that is was actually a "cooler" although the website clearly stated refrigerator. Eventually a new refrigerator was brought in and it worked fine. The wifi was sketchy at it's best. I'm not sure where they got the things on the bed they called pillows, but I can say I don't recall the last time I slept so poorly. The walls must be paper thin. When room service knocked on the room next door at 2 am, they woke us. The website I booked the room from clearly stated that the pool was heated, it is not heated and cold. The staff has very heavy accents and are very difficult to understand the broken English. The breakfast buffet was acceptable. While the omelets and eggs were sub par, the fresh fruit, variety of bread, variety of cereals and variety of juices was very nice. I would not recommend this hotel and will not stay here again. The hotel is misrepresented on every site I have checked, for example one site says heated pool and it isn't, one site says cherry and mahogany furnishings, not in m room there weren't. A good example of false advertising. And think twice before you book, if you decide to cancel it appears to take an act of God for you to get back any monies you might have already paid.
