Hointer in Forbes this week.
In 1975, the fastest supercomputer cost approximately $5 million at the time and processed at the same speed of today’s $400 iPhone 4, according to a recent McKinsey report on digital technologies. Imagine telling someone in 1975, “In 35 years, you will have a device in your pocket that can [...]

What if you could ditch those shopping bags you’re always forgetting, or do away with pushing around sticky carts; instead using your smartphone to grocery shop?

The Name: Hointer The Place: Not here. America. Seattle mainly. The Story: This is a tale of a woman who opens shops to sell things, anything, because she is interested in how she can sell stuff more efficiently rather than in what she sells. But beware you need a smart-phone or you are sunk. Curious: …

New York, New York, United States — When it comes to shopping, more Americans are skipping the stores and pulling out their smartphones and tablets. No one thinks physical stores are going away permanently. But because of the frenetic pace of advances in technology and online shopping, the stores that remain will likely offer amenities and services that are more about experiences and less about selling a product. And they’ll be able to print out ...

Got the opportunity to visit Hointer recently, and I can honestly say I never want to shop in a conventional store again. When you visit Hointer for the first time you can't help but feel that this is what modern shopping should be like. Instead of navigating a cramped store, fumbling through stacks of clothes looking for your size, and carrying a bundle of garments along with you, at Hointer you just scan the QR code of the items that catch your eye select your size from the onscreen prompt. When you're ready, press _Try On" and a fitting room number will appear on screen. Make your way there and your selections are already waiting, delivered by robots. If you realize you need a different size, simply select it from within the app and it is delivered within seconds. Once you've made your final decisions, toss the rejects down the chute and remove them from your virtual cart. Finally, take the desired garments and tap their NFC tags against the provided Nexus 7, scan your credit card, grab a plastic bag and be on your way. Without a doubt the most pleasurably shopping experience I've ever had.
