What is LOT coffee?
Coffee Article

When roasters order coffee they receive bags that are part of a particular Lot, which is a harvest of coffee from a specific farm, altitude, or location.  Just like the quality of wines can vary from year to year, certain Lots of coffee can have unique characteristics that make them better than usual.

I was skeptical at first, but after a year at Hogan Brothers I noticed this occurrence with our Colombian Supremo. After our first roast with a new Lot, the beans smelled better, were more uniformly sized, and slightly larger than our normal batch.  I put a pot on the brewer and was floored by the difference.  After 6 hours of sitting on the burner I'm drinking from the same pot and it's still one of the best cups of Colombian I've ever had.

While all of our coffees are delicious, you can be sure that we pay attention to which beans look like they're above average. If you'd like our opinion on what these are feel free to call ahead before placing your next order!
