One of our favorite romantic things to do in Lancaster, PA, is attend a night at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre. Along with some spectacular cooking, you will also receive an outstanding performance in the main theater. One of our absolute favorite pairings is good eating and exciting entertainment, and this attraction is the perfect marriage of the two. Spend your evening cuddled up with your loved one enjoying some delicious cuisine and a fun show. As far as the menu goes, lick your lips for some housemade gouda and cheddar macaroni and cheese, choice cut prime rib, stuffed flounder, or ratatouille and cheese ravioli! The menu changes each performance, so you will receive a new, delicious plate each visit.

Discover History and Culture at Amish Farm and House
One great option of romantic things to do in Lancaster, PA, is to attend a tour at the Amish Farm and House. It will be a great opportunity to learn more about a new culture together. Under an hour away from the Historic Smithton Inn, the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex (PA Farm Show Complex) is a premier venue for a variety of attractions, shows, and exhibits. Spread throughout 11 halls and 3 arenas and boasting nearly 9,000 parking spaces, this is one of the largest gathering places in the area. The name rings true to many of the events that occur at the PA Farm Show Complex. There are many agricultural showcases that take place at this convention center. During the 18th century, the land on which Longwood Gardens stands was once the home to the native Lenni Lenape tribe and many Quaker families. In 1870, Pierre S. du Pont was born and was heavily influenced by the natural beauty of the land. He planted his first garden in Longwood, and would soon grow to become one of the world’s most influential gardeners. By 1916, Pierre started planning indoor expansions to his garden. The result was a stunning perpetual Eden that opened five years later in 1921. He continued adding more and more to Longwood Gardens over the next 30 years, including the Italian Water Garden.

Covered bridges in Lancaster PA hold some of the most historic significance in the entire country. In fact, the longest covered bridge in the world was built in Lancaster County back in 1815. It crossed the Susquehanna River at a distance of over a mile. Sadly, the bridge was destroyed by ice and high water in 1832. However, many covered bridges (also known as “kissing bridges”) still remain throughout the entire state of Pennsylvania as a testament to the past.
