Hilton Glasgow is currently home to Morblas Seafood and Grill, Ti Tea Lounge and Connich Bar but it was once Minsky’s Bistro, Cameron’s Restaurant and Raffles Bar…🍴✨

Minsky's Bistro - a New York deli that served meals all day starting with a classic Hilton Glasgow breakfast (as well as Japanese breakfast option!) through to lunch and dinner.

Next door was Cameron’s, the sophisticated fine-dining restaurant that served up traditional Scottish cuisine and reflected the historical elegance of a traditional Highland hunting lodge. Cameron’s was named after Cameron of Lochiel, Chief of Clan Cameron at the time of the Jacobite rebellion of 1745. We also had the Cameron’s Cookery Experience which was a cookery demonstration from our award winning chefs.

Around the corner there was Raffles Bar🍸 - just like Connich it was a popular place to meet, drink and relax!

Whether it was for Christmas dinner, a quick drink or you attended the Cameron’s Cookery Experience, we would love to hear if you visited any of our amazing outlets!

Meet David, the heart of our purchasing team.

Born and raised in Glasgow, David has worked in hospitality for almost 15 years. David discovered his love for the industry at 19 years old as kitchen porter in a local hotel that is stepdad also worked in.

In October 2009 we welcomed David to Hilton Glasgow, as a member of the purchasing team. In addition to his day-to-day in purchasing, David’s strong work ethic and passion for the hotel is showcased by also assisting in the Hilton Glasgow kitchen and LivingWell.

Away from the hotel, David enjoys playing football and going to the gym. One of David’s top achievements was completing the West Highland Way - which is 96 miles long!

“I like the job because it’s something different everyday. Also the people I work with are top guys!” - hard-working, passionate and a team player, we are definitely lucky to have David at Hilton Glasgow!

Imagine walking into Hilton Glasgow lobby 25 years ago... 🛎 ✨

Since opening in 1992, Hilton Glasgow foyer was designed to impress and it’s safe to say it has remained sophisticated and classic as ever.

When you step into Hilton Glasgow expect to be greeted by our wonderful concierge team. Over the past 25 years we have had many notable guests including (not to name drop!) Bill Clinton, Nelson Mandela and Joan Collins. Robert Duvall stayed at the hotel for several weeks during filming of the movie ‘A Shot at Glory’. Our head concierge John Laurie has worked at the hotel since it’s opening 25 years ago and has looked after many of these wonderful guests. John started out as a porter on front desk in his early 20s, worked his way up to management and we are proud to say that he was named Concierge of the Year at the recent Scottish Hotel Awards!

Whoever is passing through our revolving doors, can be assured a warm welcome from our concierge and front desk team.

Let’s #TBT to the day Hilton Glasgow opened its doors, November 30th 1992…

"…which also happened to be St Andrew’s day! As it was St Andrew's Day, the skirl of pipes accompanied Glasgow's then Lord Provost, Robert Innes, as he declared the hotel open.

Construction of the hotel began in 1990 and was Hilton's first foray into Glasgow. The hotel was notable for being the first high-rise building over 20 storeys to be constructed in Glasgow since its tower block building boom of the 1960s and early 1970s.

Hilton Glasgow is one of Glasgow’s five-star hotels, the granite and glass structure has dominated the Glasgow skyline ever since it first opened. Craig Gardner, a former Hilton Glasgow manager, says: "It's interesting to remember that Glasgow, and probably Scotland, had never seen anything quite like the Hilton. It was not just the city's first international hotel, it was its first true five-star one as well.”

Opening with 319 bedrooms, three top floors of executive rooms, three restaurants, a large ballroom and extensive conference, business and leisure facilities; the hotel has gone through a big journey over the years so if anyone has any pictures/stories/facts from over the years please share them below!
