was booked into a small double room 1st floor sea view with wall paper falling off a very narrow bath with an old fashioned shower curtain that sticks to you when you try to shower as you have to duck down under the shower if you 6' or above . The bed is the biggest nightmare the mattress is a spring job all of which are buckled and have no give so the back is very sore in the morning . On the way down the stairs in the morning to tell reception to find me a new room or I am off home I noticed how dirty the place was , net curtains were black the lamps full of dust carpets badly need a shampoo ( I had to ask myself I did book into the Hilton maybe I should look at the name on the front again ) As I was looking at the very dated reception and the wall paper patches that cover the tears and listen to my wife complain as she had got this for a birthday treat for me I realised that this is no longer the Hilton of old . Was given a new room bigger bed , they even gave it two covers as they new it had the same type of mattress , yep very sore back in the morning and you guess it we are never going back , as in to any Hiltons as they really suck . Even premier inn and travel lodge have memory foam beds , the person in charge of the purchase of beds or referb is either on a big back hander or an idiot . This is no longer a family chain who used to care this is just about what they can get out of you without putting to much into it . Who ever is in charge of the star system have a look at how many I have given it , oh one more point please please make sure you have something on your feet in the changing room area at the swimming pool

Clean. Good room over looking the old pier. Breakfast very good. Evening meal was ok. Chicken slightly over cooked. Parking expensive.

Stayed in a family room late November 2014 for one Saturday night. Corporate event. The pros: The staff are very helpful and attentive. The evening food was excellent thought I understand the vegetarian option was lacking in quantity. There is 24 hour underground parking at a reasonable rate for Brighton. Breakfast buffet is served until 11am with 12 noon checkout. Breakfast was buffet style, with plenty of seating and excellent quality of food on offer. The cons: The hotel rooms are very tired. The rooms need decorating and bringing up to 2014 standards. Such things as broken shower hoses, dirty marks on walls, broken handle on iron, terrible TV reception, no instructions on setting clock radio time. A lack of plug sockets, no free Wi-Fi, over £14.50 per day!!! Rooms very stuffy, even with windows slightly open (security feature). Our floor (5th) was quiet but many people close to ground level complain of noise from air-con / ventilation fans running outside 24/7. I understand that the hotel will be upgrading over 170 rooms during 2015, so hopefully if I return I can rate again at 5 stars.

Beautiful sea view from our room would come back even though had a slight issue with our breakfast room service which the management sorted also had an issue with our room being too warm which was changed straight away.

Room was very tired; carpet was soiled, tap was loose, mirror cracked and some equipment was past the portable appliance test date. Food service in the bar was poor too, taking an hour and a half to get two courses out of them. Breakfast service, in contrast, was much better and well organised.

The public areas were beautiful and well-maintained, and the breakfast was very good. However, my room was really shabby and the door wouldn't lock properly. You had to jiggle the handle in a weird way to get it to lock. I was under the impression that free internet was included, but to get internet in your room, you have to pay more than $10 a day. They do give you a code that allows you to use free wi-fi in the lobby or breakfast room. That was disappointing. If I come back to Brighton, I'll stay somewhere else.

Noisy room at end of hallway - could hear doors slam shut and loud housekeeping staff chatting in the lobby. Ridiculously expensive internet and buffet breakfast. Upon check-out - no one asked about my stay. They handed me the bill, didn't look up. I would never be back. I should have stayed at the Drakes down the street as my colleagues there had a lovely stay.
