I had to have a shower in Rm1s bathroom this morning because we are refurbishing the bathroom in our own flat. Just had to share that it was ace! Yes I'm celebrating my own cleverness but it was a bloomin' lovely experience and I'm very pleased that all our Rm1 guests have experienced it too. #hotpowerfulshowers

Beds at Highcliffe B&B

“What do I wear in bed? Why Chanel No.5 of course.” Marilyn Monroe.
After much research and experimenting we decided that the only way to go was pocket sprung. It would be crazy to think that all the decisions we make will please everyone that comes to stay with us but be sure that at least 99% of guests will appreciate their pocket sprung mattress.
Pocket Sprung mattresses are made up of a series of 6 inch pockets which offer edge to edge support and is in effect lots of tiny indipendant mattresses. This has several benefits but for us it was simple. When you open the door to welcome a couple who’s weight and height is like chalk and cheese you want them to sleep easily without rolling into the middle or pinging off the edge off the bed when the larger of the two roles over. Every six inches being its own mattress means your heels, your hips, your shoulders and your head all receive the correct amount of support alleviating the common problem of sore knees or a numb shoulder. There’s edge to edge support so unless they steal the duvet there’s little chance of you even realising your partner has moved let along catapulted you off the bed. If you are thinking of buying one for yourselves then there are plenty around to suit most budgets but they will almost always cost you more. I’d recommend the extra spend though as they are seriously comfortable and sleep is a serious thing.
Temperature control is a big deal too which is why all our beds are made from and made up with, natural fibers and our sheets are a crisp breathable egyptian cotton. Our duvets are feather which is the traditional material used when invented by the French and is generally considered to be a superior bedding because of the crisp sound, thermal qualities and plump ‘jump into’ appearance. For those with allergies or for those who suffer from an increase in temperature at night then we also provide good quality, low tog, manmade hypoallergenic alternatives which have the look and feel of feather.
The bed featured in the images below is room 2 but all our bedrooms feature a pocket sprung mattress.
If you have any questions about our beds please don’t hesitate to call us because we want to you have the best night’s sleep possible. 01326 314466.

All Highcliffe's guests are privalge to 10% off their bill at 3 of Falmouth's best restaurants; The Shed, The Shack & The Ranch. We love all 3 of them but if you fancy cocktails and a homemade burger  book The Shed. If you fance a fantastic steak sourced from the Queen's own butcher choose The Ranch and if you fancy a whole lot of locally sourced fish and shellfish then The Shack is th one for you. We can book it for you when you book with us and the 10% off the bill is yours. Gooh eh?

Guests always like to hear about how long we've been here and what Highcliffe was like when we moved in...well here's a before an after shot. It was the day we looked around Highcliffe with the estate agent (man in the suit) in Feb 2008. Alots changed since then.

With Cornwall’s ever changing pace of the elements you need a good base to explore it from. Falmouth is the perfect location. It’s often called the gateway to Cornwall as it’s location and fantastic infrastructure make it a great base. Plus it has an abundance of evening entertainment keeping any traveller interested for nights on end.

- 30 minutes away from the North Coast and some of it’s best surfing beaches such as Fistral beach
- 45 minutes away from fishing villages such as St. Ives and Padstow
- 40 minutes away from Newquay or Watergate Bay where Jamie Oliver’s 15 restaurant is based
- only 1 hour 15 minutes minutes from Lands End
- 45 minutes from Penzance.
If you fancy getting out of Falmouth for the day, then the rest of Cornwall is on your door step.

We stayed here last week for our 2nd wedding anniversary. It was a perfect experience. Simon and Vanessa should be proud of themselves as they have put together an amazing guest house, they are kind, professional, have designed a quirky looking property. Honestly just book your stay there as you will not be disappointed. The breakfast is delicious, the place is spotless, they have used expensive products to give that extra touch, good quality bedding and comfortable beds. The location is ideal, walking- 5 minutes to the beach, 5 minutes to the town. Farnmouth is a great town, fun, cool shops, loads of places to eat and beautiful views. We will definitely recommend our friends and family to book Highcliff, we will go back. Thank you Vanessa and Simon.

Upon arrival my partner and I were greeted by the staff while we were still unpacking the car. Needless to say that we were taken care of before we had even stepped through the door. From the outset it was obvious that that the owners were highly passionate about providing an unsurpassable level of service. It was obvious that such passion in the care and attention paid to guests was honest. This is not to say that the level of attention paid to was overbearing. Indeed, our hosts appeared to appreciate that travellers and tourists often want their holiday to begin as soon as possible and not spend a great deal of time having the rules of a guest house laid out. Therefore, we were given a warm introduction, had our luggage taken to our room, and had only the most fundamental of information explained to us. Overall, service was 10/10 We stayed in the penthouse suite. My partner did not hesitate to mention that the bed was the most comfortable she had ever been lucky enough to witness. The room and all of its furniture and utilities were spotless. There was not one thing we would have chosen to change regarding the room. It really is worth staying in the penthouse, if only to appreciate the unhindered view across the harbour. There was more than enough storage space for all of our belongings. The interior decoration of the suite was ideal in its white tones. A wide range of breakfast options were available, limited only by one's own appetite. The breakfast specials were particularly delightful. I for one enjoyed the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs on an english muffin, while my partner enjoyed mushrooms on toast. Overall, what we enjoyed best was how approachable the staff seemed and how friendly and warm they were towards guests. Also, the room was without fault whatsoever. If you can, the penthouse is quite simply the best option.

A bed and breakfast stay to remember, and repeat again. The landlady Vanessa gave us a warm welcome, and made every thing for myself,my wife, and our baby comfortable. Lovely views from our bedroom window, and within easy reach of Falmouth's centre. Very tasty breakfast.

We have just spent a fantastic 4 days, including New Year at this hotel. The owners are a fabulous young couple who could not do enough to help. The breakfast is superb, the room was warm, modern and spotlessly clean. Looking forward to visiting again for our Anniversary in June

My Daughter and I stayed for one night at Highcliffe. It is genuinely a fantastic place. Welcoming, beautiful, modern and just perfect! The choice of breakfast was amazing - I've never been to a Bed and Breakfast that has 'Specials' - a wonderful touch. I've stayed in a lot of B&B's in the last few years whilst walking around the country and Highcliffe is one of the top three I've ever stayed in. If only more guest houses would take such care and attention ...

Clean, friendly, well situated. Great breakfast with local produce. Would recommend this B & B to anyone whether to enjoy a weekend for two or a family holiday. Well done Vanessa & Simon and thanks for making our New Year celebrations very special Re-visited in June 2009 and cannot believe the work done by the owners to ensure the decor and soft furnishings are first class.

This must rate as the best B&B/Guest house we have ever stayed in. The room was exactly as promised on the web site, very comfortable and in excellent decorative order. Simon was a perfect host and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were cooked to order with specials most days.
