I've been an extreme Google fan for years now, since obtaining my galaxy s2 in about 2010. Lately, I'm losing faith. When such an avid fan like me starts losing faith, I would worry about the rest of the Google fanboys.
Hangouts seems to always hit iOS first, not to mention the capability to send video clips on iOS for months, if not years now, that Android just never got. And what about the favourites tab in ios hangouts that Android never got? Also, on a more wider critique, why can I not audio call from mobile to desktop? Don't even get me started on Google's pure lack to push tablet optimised UI on Android. Look at how nice hangouts look on iPhone and iPad. Where is the Android tablet ui?
While I'm on a Google rant, what is happening with Google photos? How can you replace one service (plus photos) with another (Google photos), and not have all the features from the old in the new? Should have made Google photos an opt in service until it caught up with plus photos, like inbox is doing with gmail.
Furthermore it does not look like Google photos is properly supported in hangouts either. How do I view my photos in any hangouts conversation these days? The new hangouts app does not appear to have a conversation media viewer, and Google photos no longer shows the hangout albums.
Then there is the complete lack of integration of other services offered by Google. Why can't I share a Google drive file or file link from within hangouts?
There are some obvious expectations here that are just not coming through no matter how many years we all beg and wait. Just feeling really disappointed in Google lately. 1 step forward, 2 steps back.
Please link to the play store and give these Android apps 1 star ratings, as this is the most practical way I can think of to have Google hear us.
