Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace. I came with a sword.

“O coffee! By the mighty Name of Power do I invoke thee, consecrating thee to the Service of the Magic of Light. Let the pulsations of my heart be strong and regular and slow! Let my brain be wakeful and active in its supreme task of self-control! That my desired end may be effected through Thy strength, Adonai, unto Whom be the Glory for ever! Amen without lie, and Amen, and Amen of Amen.”

Aleister Crowley, Liber DCCCLX

In spite of or because of their anxiety, most of the reactors were more uninhibited in the display of emotion than were the non-reactors, and more voluble. They were also much more religious, much more active in the affairs of their church and much more preoccupied, on a subconscious level, with their pelvic and abdominal organs.

I never linger over such memories, for they have long since lost any emotional significance for me. There was no way I could restore them to life except by transforming them and making them unrecognizable, at first glance, to my eyes, solely because during that deformation they acquired the lewdest of meanings.

Georges Bataille, Story of the Eye

Archiving, Encouaging and Engaging the living Western Esoteric Tradition, Hermeticism in the broad sense, and Aleister Crowley's Thelema
Introduction
The Hermetic Library is primarily a website for which I have an overall vision of Archiving, Engaging and Encouraging the living Western Esoteric Tradition, Hermeticism in a broad-sense, and Aleister Crowley’s Thelema. I encourage you to check out the library, if you aren’t already familiar with it. The site was started in 1996 and has ever since consistently been an extremely popular resource for students and researchers interested in the Western Esoteric Tradition.

With the site, and all related projects, I hope to do my part to engage, and bridge the divides between, gown-cowl-town, between scholars, practitioners and the interested public. In addition to the main reference site with many popular esoteric and occult topics, the overall library effort also includes special projects, many opportunities for participation, active presence on several social networks, and sister sites.

Sister sites include Hrmtc Underground, a network and community of sites and blogs and a forum for discussions that are connected together through their relationship to the mission and overall subject matter of the library; Hermeneuticon, a place for shared wisdom, such as a wiki for projects and developing tools; and Hermetic Hosting, to provide web hosting and support for the esoteric community.
