If you’re a therapist, ideally, you have access to intervention training and a good clinical supervisor. What if you don’t? Many new therapists, social workers, and other psychosocial professionals enter the field without concrete psychotherapy intervention training, and most without sufficient experience to know  how to immediately implement it in every unique presenting situation. Very good comprehensive article for the beginning mental health worker, with all due cautions. The only thing I would have liked to see on the various therapies on the chart would be to see credit and acknowledgment to Victor Frankl under Existential Psychology, as he was such an important forerunner in the field and logotherapy is still very much alive.

I was also surprised not to see either Arron Beck or Dr. David Burns cited for their work in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Their methods, exercises, and principles have been used by many professionals either in their original form, or in an extended version.

Thank you for the share. :)

I have to check this out. This is a big issue in cultural anthropology (one of my two fields). A system of signals is NOT the same as a language. So...I'm very interested to see how the analysis is done. Thanks for pointing out this interesting study.

=====

OK, just looked at it. Then looked at the source study (in PLOS Biology, online). Excellent study. Very well done. The birds do appear to have a very simple proto-language. I have never seen this before.

When someone tells you that they have started meditating, you may picture Gwyneth Paltrow blogging from a meadow while chowing down on sex bark, or your middle school art teacher who wore paisley caftans and smelled like something you now suspect wasn’t actually incense. But despite its New Age

These are the most horrible and incompetant nurses in NYC. After a spinal fusion and a lapemdectomy the nurses mixed up my chart and refused to give me pain medication for the first 24 hours. I was literally in my bed screaming from the incision. They didn't even bother to answer the bell or check to see what was wrong. They refused to privide assistance to get to the bathroom and to get on a gurney for an Xray. They wouldn't make eye contact when they did come into a room. If they wanted you to turn over they would just push at you. The sheets were never changed and the food was left on the opposite side of the room. They did this knowing I could not get out of the bed. The hospital staff sends a survey and asks if you want to speak to someone. I said yes of course they never got beack to me. This is a disgusting place don't go there.
