"But the most valuable aspect about his phone is simply that it makes him look like everyone else. "You won't believe it," he tells me, "but if I didn't have my phone, I probably couldn't just sit here and have my coffee and be talking to you. It gives me something I can do in public. It's not loitering if I'm typing or talking on my phone." Loitering, he said, is often a good excuse to kick the homeless out of a place. And a phone is a passport that lets him stay in places longer than he would otherwise.

"You have to realize about my situation, most people don't look beyond appearances," he said. And if there's one thing that matters when you're homeless, according to Bert, it's appearances. The minute the facade cracks and reveals your struggle, no one wants to be around you. No one wants to see it. People kick you out of places; they can tell you don't belong anywhere.""

He ordered a coffee, carefully counting out coins on the counter, then sat down and pulled out his phone, just like nearly everyone else at the shop.

Alright, G+, I need your help.

I'm helping my girlfriend brush up her resume, but she's in retail and I've only ever done administration and IT resumes. I've looked up important keywords/buzzwords and skills, but I'm wondering what really sets a retail resume apart? What kind of personal details and unique twists move a candidate to the top of the list?

I've been waiting for a game like this since I started playing Amplitude and Frequency a decade ago! Finally, use the music on your phone/tablet to play a guitar hero type game!
Music Hero is the most rockin' and the only music rhythm game that you can ...

Introduction
Longtime musician, artist, and Jane of All Trades (so to speak). Professionally, I am an IT Technician that loves to solve puzzles and figure out problems. In my free time, I'm a newshound that loves to keep up on the latest tech and politics.

Putting my money where my mouth is & trying to be an example of how we should care for one another through public and private social programs is very important to me. Whether you donate money or time, it is priceless to help others :)

OUTspoken LGBT activist, especially for homeless youth - show some love to my favorite charities: Give A Damn, The Trevor Project, and The True Colors Fund.

great location, nice neighborhood, close vicinity to a variety of shops/services. apt complex management, however, is awful. complete lack of attention to ongoing maintenance issues, poorly trained staff, and over-priced apartments. they want to compete with nicer complexes in the area, but refuse to do the maintenance needed to fulfill that image. Fancy tile steps/walkway to the leasing office doesn't make up for doors that can't be locked, windows that leak heat/cold due to not fitting the windowframe, and perennial sewer problems. Had my car broken into 3 times over a 2 year span after they cancelled the nighttime security service. Paid over $150/month in utilities for a one bedroom apartment because they wouldn't fix the huge gaps around my doors and windows that made it impossible to keep the heat/cold inside. If they could fix the physical issues with the buildings and replace the management team, I would move back. Until then, I'll continue to live elsewhere and let someone else get ripped off by Griffis-Blessing.
