My favorite part of this review is when Genuine Leather is kinda compared to my favorite used-to-be-local big-indie band, Spoon.
by Nick Hanover While I was researching Genuine Leather for this review, I came across a blurb that said It has never been production that makes a song great.

G+ won't let me edit my post, so I'll add my additional thoughts in a comment:
I agree that "Don't Be Alarmed" is the best track on the album. However, I do not agree that the vocals don't really work on "The Garden." They work for me because that song is so weird-- it's like being in a bad trip or sleep paralysis dream or something. I personally think "She and I" is the weakest track on the album, but only because I think it would have worked better as a Gorgeous Hands song with Rusty on vocals.

This album is everything I hoped it would be. "Man Wakes Up" is reminiscent of REMAIN IN LIGHT-era Talking Heads. I cannot wait for my copy to arrive in the mail! #musicmonday   #BrianEno   #KarlHyde

For 40-plus years, Eno has been a sonic abettor and collaborator beyond his own solo career. Here, he teams up with former Underworld member and vocalist Karl Hyde.

I so hope this happens.
"HOLY SH*T," my inner teen shouts as I came across this phenomenal news! MTV UK has reveled that the Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys may be coming together to give us the best gift ever- a joint tour.

Cautiontape is an amazing new band in Austin. Please check them out and contribute some money to help them release their first EP!

Wait, what? They're not with Merge anymore?
Austin-based indie rock band Spoon has signed to Loma Vista, the label started by former Warner Bros. Records' chairman/CEO Tom Whalley.

Oh, wow... Genuine Leather + Marfa, TX

#indiemusic   #indiepop   #musicvideo
For a while now I’ve been saying that few things are as breezy or easily enjoyable as a Genuine Leather song, and now there’s a video to prove it!  Directed by Marc Brown and shot out near Marfa, Texas, the video for She And I is probably the most pleasant thing that’s ever premiered here [...]

If you go here, get the omakase! The chef will make you a special meal of three or five course, none of which is on the menu. I had the three-course version and all three dishes were very delicious and fresh. I also tried one of the infused sake drinks. It was flavorful and complemented the meal well!

There was a sweet cat who lived on the grounds, which I enjoyed. But the room and grounds were very dirty. The pool was full of bugs. The shower/tub in my room drained very slowly. My room, which should have been non-smoking, smelled of flavored cigars and the walls were thin enough to hear the activities of the people staying next to me. They also do not provide shampoo/conditioner in the rooms, so be sure to bring your own. I also had an encounter I'd rather forget with another guest of the hotel. I know this should not really reflect on the hotel, but maybe it is in a rough area (I do not know the Beaumont area well). I felt unsafe. If you are a woman traveling alone, use precaution when walking around the property and to nearby businesses. I was also confused because when I was searching online for a hotel to book this one promised a Continental Breakfast and coffee. There was no breakfast and when I went into the office in the morning there was no coffee in the coffee maker. I guess between the time I booked and stayed the Continental Breakfast stopped being offered.

I was looking for a new place to get my hair cut at, so I bought a Groupon offer for a women's haircut at The Beauty Jar. Upon arriving, I was greeted and offered a drink. I had my hair cut by Jin, who was just wonderful! She is very skilled at cutting bobs and short hairstyles and is very thorough. Unlike some hairstylists, she didn't talk much while she was cutting my hair, which s okay with me: I'm not a big talker when I'm getting my hair done! Before Jin cut my hair she washed it with some wonderful smelling product and have me a great scalp and neck massage. After a long day at work it is just what I wanted. After the haircut, I was treated to a hand exfoliation with a nice scrub and a moisturizer. The only part of the experience that I did not like was the wait. Even though I had booked an appointment for 5:45 I did not get in the chair until 6:00 because the previous haircut was running longer. I didn't mind because I had nowhere to be, but I do see how this could be a problem if someone had a tight schedule. While I was waiting I was given magazines to read and the owner, Brizy, gave me a cakeball to eat. Even with the wait, I will return for future haircuts. I appreciated the way I was treated and enjoyed the products that were used.

Awesomely unique flavors for fans of spice! These products are a great fusion of different flavors. I never imagined that Latin and Nepalese spices would work well together, but Kala's Kuisine has found a way to blend them perfectly! I stopped by Kala's booth at the Cedar Park Farmer's Market and sampled several products and ended up buying three: The Mirchi-Masala Salsa, the Ledho-Achar sauce, and the Kimchi Achar made with Napa cabbage. All three are very flavorful. If you like heat I recommend the Ledho-Achar sauce. It has a lot of heat and a lot of flavor, plus it smells great when you cook with it!

I cannot have a bad time when I am at Cheer Up Charlie's. I love this place! It is very welcoming and they put on the funnest shows and have the best, brightest decor. Plus, their specialty drinks are to die for, especially The Golden Ticket. Now, this place isn't for everyone. I have encounter some who say that it is "too hipster" for them. If you feel at home in a bar on Dirty 6th then this place may not be the one for you, but that is okay-- I probably wouldn't like your favorite bar, either. People have different tastes, so that is why there are different types bars. I do miss the two food trucks that were at their old E 7th location and hope to see their return soon so my nights out can be complete again.

I visited Korean Grill for the first time on Sunday and I was very impressed. The outside looks plain, but hidden behind that plain exterior is great food and wonderful service. Our waitress took the time to tell us exactly what each side dish was, which has never been offered to me at a Korean restaurant before (now I know what the sides that I like so much are!). There were a couple of sides made with fresh greens from the family's own garden, which I thought was really cool. All of the dishes my friends and I ordered were very flavorful and satisfying. I cannot wait to return to try other items from the menu!

This place is awesome! They offer many different types and roasts of coffee (which they roast themselves onsite-- because of this the place smells delicious) and tea, along with coffee and tea accessories. If you do not own a coffee grinder they will grind your purchased beans for which ever method of brewing you will be using. All of the staff is very knowledgeable. The owner, R.C., is very friendly and will take time to talk with you and answer any coffee questions you may have. Every so often he offers a free coffee tasting/cupping class. If you have the chance to do so and love coffee, sign up for this class! You will learn so much about coffee and have a ton of fun doing so.
