Today I'm wearing my "thinking cap". I think I might need to be wearing it all the time.

This is it.
The kids are back in school, and real life resumes. It’s time for all those “as soon as the holidays are over…” promises to begin. Don't let it be just talk this year. Don’t let another year go by and “wish” you had stuck with it. It won’t get easier and you’ll just feel another year behind so start right now. This year, make a PLEDGE.

*I PLEDGE: *
My body and health resolutions are more than empty promises that will fade in 2 weeks. I want to be happy with my path and progress beyond January and into February, March, and beyond.

I pledge to do whatever it takes to make me happen. Regardless of struggle or circumstance, I will push through it this time and not give up, give in or let life pull me from my health. My body needs me to take care of it for my own peace and for the people who love and need me.

I pledge to stop putting myself last on my list of things to do....

It's over.
The stress is gone, the frenzy is over and all your loving work and effort helped create a beautiful holiday but..
it's time to move on and refocus on your body and health.
No more food excuses (I don't have time, too much too do, etc), there's nothing left to get in the way of your body goals. It's all YOU now so start NOW. Don't worry about the extra lbs, just keep your eyes forward and go. Don't know where to start?

Here are 4 things to start doing right now to give your new years resolutions a jump start and get your mind and motivation ON.

1. WATER UP
Start detoxing, cleaning up, and filling up. Shoot for at least three 24oz sports bottles, 4 if you can.

2. Toss out the leftover goodies.
Don't leave temptation hanging around. You had fun but not it's time to start your bodyfication.

3. Move. Walk, bike, play, gym, anything... but get your move ON.
Physically good for you and endorphins are the buds of motivation.

4. Focus on nutrients.
Your body needs protein, greens, fruits, veggies and good carbs. Include all of those, and ween out everything else.

It's your year! Start NOW.

Recovery from ACL and meniscus surgery is coming along. Last week was the first time I leg pressed... with weight! Slowly but surely.

+Heather Frey  I couldn't take NSAIDs post-op, 1mo after the tibial fracture 3/28/13. It took a while to get back to 25 of the usual 28mi/wk. Take it easy.

What if you don't try?
What if, in order to feel safe, you do nothing?
What if in five or 10 years you are in this same place?

Justifications for why "you can't" is only a clever disguise for fear. Fear you won't be good enough, fear you'll fail, fear you'll look foolish and maybe even fear of success.

But nothing is scarier than looking back and knowing you could have, but didn't. Knowing that had you only tried maybe you wouldn't still be here.

You can't escape fear, it's part of growing, but you can give it a back seat instead of letting it drive. There is no failure only lessons learned to carry you forward. Falling down is part of getting up. Stop looking at things as failure and success and simply seek the adventure of finding out how far and how high you can go.

Knee injury? Well I'm still recovering from mine. When I was still in a brace I created workout videos to keep you moving. Here's a lower body workout when you can't bend your leg! You CAN stay in shape through injury! I have :)

I noticed that when I do leg presses, I tend to push with my toes, and that can lead to knee injury, I've corrected it now though

Many of you might know that over the summer I tore my ACL and both of my meniscus. I just recently had surgery to repair them and am on the road to recovery. The one thing I decided is that there's no way I'm going to stop moving. I'm back at the gym, doing home workouts, and am going to physical therapy. It's hard enough to recovering the knee, I just couldn't let everything else go too, it just makes things harder. So, I'm producing some workout videos for anyone who has a knee, leg or foot injury. You CAN stay in shape through an injury! It'll be the best thing you can do for your physical and emotional self. If you're going through recovery, this is a time of self care because this speeds recovery. Move too fast, ignore rehab, and it all takes longer, not to mention more painful. Good luck and keep moving!

Was it wrong for me to put SmashFit and all the Macs in Best Buy? And a bunch of other computers? So much fun and even funner when someone look at the computer, looked at me, looked at the computer, but I scurried away.

Story
Tagline
Founder of SmashFit, Fitness-Xpert for NBC show Miami Mom's, & in pursuit of all that makes me laugh
Introduction
I'm the President and founder of SmashFit.com, the first personal trainer and fitness matching website on the net. Both client AND trainer match so it's a match *both* ways. Think matchmaking for fitness.

I'm also the fitness expert on a new show called "Miami Mom's" on our new NBC Miami Nonstop Station where I get to add some fun and function to getting fitnesscized.

My primary push in fitness training is the mind - "Your fitness is 100% mental. Your body won't go where your mind doesn't push it." This is the heart of what I write about. There are thousands of workouts, magazines and books with all the information you need, but making yourself DO IT, the right way, and consistently, takes mental training, not just physical training.

I love to train, and have competed for several years in Figure competitions on both a local and national level - feminized bodybuilding I call it. The goal is symmetry and femininity, not size. But even more important to me than musculating is to be all-over fit and healthy and to prove the guys wrong - women CAN do pull-ups! What you see on the outside is what I've worked out on the inside.

Before my fitness career, I was a graphic designer and am still an artist. I've had my work published in calendars, journals and cards and aspire to bring them to SmashFit.

I approach all things in life with a sense of Of-Course-I-Can-itude. What I know, I want to share, and what I don't know I want to learn. I think when you bring your passions outside of your imagination, magic happens.

Bragging rights
I got into the shape of my life AFTER 2 kids. Took home two 1st place trophies the same night. Still have the record at my elementary school for the most pull ups - 39.
