If a tragedy of this magnitude took place in the United States, every child under 5 living in six major American cities (Boston, Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, DC) would have died in a single calendar year.

On this #WorldMalariaDay, IHME and the University of Zambia (UNZA) are excited to officially launch the policy report from Malaria Control Policy Assessment (MCPA) project in Zambia.

Thanks to the scale-up of malaria control and a subset of other key child health interventions in Zambia, declines in under-5 mortality accelerated additional 1% each year between 2000 and 2010.
