FOOD FOR LANE COUNTY
Most kids for their birthday ask for presents and a birthday cake but not Brad Hawes.
For his birthday, he asked friends and family to give donations to FOOD for Lane County instead of presents and raised enough for more than 15,000 meals!!

FOOD for Lane County’s vision is to eliminate hunger in that area. Their mission is to create access to food that helps people to help themselves. They believe in partnership; diversity; and service with dignity for their local community. The company was founded in 1984.

Hawes Financial Group Employees Participate in Annual United Way of Lane County Day of Caring; HFG Chief Strategy Officer Hank Hoell is United Way Board Member of the Month

On Wednesday, September 17, 30 Hawes Financial Group employees joined 31 other Lane County companies and over 500 volunteers who participated in United Way of Lane County’s 2014 ‘Day of Caring.’ The HFG volunteers spent half of the day at the Food for Lane County Youth Farm. The 3-acre Youth Farm located in Springfield provides job training, employment and education to at-risk teenagers throughout the growing season. The youth farmers help grow and sell more than 35 kinds of organic vegetables, more than half of which are donated to the local food bank.
The Hawes Financial Group employees spent their time on the farm learning about the farm operation and helping out in the fields, harvesting onions, tomatoes, and other vegetables. Back in May, HFG employees helped on the Youth Farm for the company’s ‘Day of Giving,’ prepping the fields and planting.
Karla Torres, Vice President of Human Resources, was one of the Hawes Financial Group volunteers participating in ‘Day of Caring.’ “The ‘United Way Day of Caring’ was a great opportunity for us to come back and visit the Youth Farm to check out the harvest and see how much the farm had changed over the summer months since our Day of Giving back in May. Our employees all enjoyed their time learning more about the Youth Farm and getting their hands dirty in the field,”she said.
This was the fourth consecutive year Hawes Financial Group has participated in the ‘Day of Caring.’

In addition, Hawes Financial Group is very proud to share the news that our own Hank Hoell has been selected as the United Way Featured Board Member of the Month. Hank is Chief Strategy Officer with Hawes Financial Group and has been a volunteer with the United Way since 2008 when he joined the Board of Directors. He has served on multiple board committees and enjoys bringing his professional expertise to United Way.
