Root canal treatment, also referred to as Endodontic Treatment, is a dental procedure that replaces your tooth’s damaged, infected or inflamed pulp, with a filling. Your pulp comprises of dental cells, blood vessels and tissue fibres located in the hollow space in the central part of your tooth (the nerve). When the nerve is damaged, infected or inflamed, endodontic treatment is required to avoid further pain and infection. You may need root canal treatment if your nerve is inflamed or infected.

4 Benefits of Teeth Whitening

1/ Increases your confidence and happiness. Flash your pearly whites more often! Teeth whitening can restore confidence in your smile again, lifting your mood and increasing your self-esteem.

2/ Relatively Safe. When whitening is supervised and carried out according to instructions, it’s a safe, simple procedure.

3/ Quite Painless. Teeth whitening doesn’t hurt. Some people feel a small amount of sensitivity, but this sensitivity is self-limiting and will resolve within days.

4/ Long lasting. Your teeth will always be lighter than they once were. However with our habits, tea, coffee, wine there maybe a need to ‘touch up’ once or twice a year.

Would you like to have a crown, veneer or restoration in one visit?
Using Cerec 3D, we at Hartwell Dentistry can do just that!

Since 2009 we have treated almost 2000 teeth with CAD-CAM ceramic dentistry, an optimal technology that achieves fantastic results, including an improved prognosis and absolute comfort.

Crowns, veneers and large restorations can all be completed in one visit. Traditionally a crown used to take two visits to complete, but with CAD-CAM Cerec restorations, the crown is made by the computer while you wait!

Does it make you smile to see a beautiful smile?
Smile Dental Makeover or Cosmetic Dentistry is the science and art of improving your smile. Traditional dentistry focuses on oral hygiene and preventing, diagnosing and treating oral disease. Cosmetic dentistry focuses on improving the appearance of your teeth, mouth and smile. Smile Dental treatments that can improve your smile include:

a) Whitening, or “tooth bleaching”, is the most common cosmetic dental procedure.
b) Tooth reshaping improves the appearance of the tooth, correcting crooked teeth, small chips, length, shape or position of teeth.
c) Dental Bridges can be used to fill in areas left by missing teeth.
d) Veneers are thin, custom-made porcelain laminates bonded directly to the teeth. They are useful for closing gaps or disguising discoloured teeth that don’t respond well to whitening procedure.

How good would this be, to wake up and have all your dental work completed? Let’s face it, not many people consider a visit to the dentist as something to look forward to. Most of us know the importance of having regular check-ups and understand that prevention is far easier than cure. However, there are many people who have such a fear of dentists that they would almost prefer to live with the pain instead of getting proper dental care.

Whatever the situation, be it strong gagging reflexes, wanting to relax more during treatment or just too busy and wanting to spend limited time on dental treatment, sedation could be the perfect solution for you.

Sedation or twilight dentistry is a very relaxed way to address your dental needs. Sedation involves having a qualified dental sedation specialist induce you to a state of deep relaxation, whereby you are still awake and able to hear commands, you will not be concerned with what is going on around you.

The great thing about dental sedation is that it is safe, less involved compared to having a general anesthetic and you really do feel like you were just “asleep” during the whole procedure.

We understand that dentistry can be quite a nerve wracking experience but here at Hartwell Dentistry together with Dr Barry Creighton we aim to get you as comfortable as we can and create a relaxing journey for you as we get on top of your dental needs.
