Food fascists in the US government ban French cheese made with mites.
An entire food supply that makes two thirds of the population overweight and one third obese is legal and even subsidized. But a French cheese made with mites has been banned for import.
Ignoramuses at the FDA says mimolette cheese "appears to consist in whole or in part of a filthy, putrid or decomposed substance or be otherwise unfit for food."
Mimolette is pretty standard cheese, except mites are deliberately introduced to feed on the outer crust and, in doing so, improve the flavor.
This traditional European cheese (they also make variants in the Netherlands and Belgium) is now banned, but pretend cheese in a can is OK.
It's time we question the food-fascist regulators' assumption that only sterile food is safe and accept the fact that 90% of the cells in our own bodies are not human, but microbial. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-23195183
