And the stones become stars. The beautiful Maori story of Tama Rereti and why we have a starry sky as I remember it from talking to people, this is my favourite story about stars of all times.

Coffee, black!

This morning aboard the International Space Station, European Space Agency astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti brewed the first espresso ever in space. After, she enjoyed the beverage viewing Earth from the station's cupola and wrote, "Coffee: the finest organic suspension ever devised. Fresh espresso in the new Zero-G cup! To boldly brew..."

Read why brews served in microgravity will percolate better science than coffee, thanks to the Space Cup: http://go.nasa.gov/1E7n8NA

All over the planet, giant telescopes and detectors are looking (and listening) for clues to the workings of the universe. At the INK Conference, science writer Anil Ananthaswamy tours us around these amazing installations, taking us to some of the most remote and silent places on Earth.

beautiful

This abstract picture taken by ESA astronaut +Samantha Cristoforetti  from the International Space Station shows fishing boats illuminating the sea to attract fish into their nets. Clouds hanging over the area have blurred the lights; the black lines are areas without cloud cover.

Introduction

I have been fascinated by the stars ever since I can rememeber being alive. Then I found out that most of our great stories are linked to them one way or another, and life too ...
So I become a StarryTeller because I wanted to know why that was!

My technical expertise draws from the biological sciences field, I use that to support science education and dream of space. My wild rabbit has always been curiosity ...

If I could wish for the humankind, I wish that all people could follow their dreams. This is not a given yet but I choose hope, and my faith that telling our success stories makes the difference.

I also wish to share my belief that culture is merely a set of instructions handed down from our ancestors for generations, to ensure our best survival. That culture, shaped by geographical constraints is not a reason to start a war. I know that extinct is forever and I could see that progress can only be achieved if we share the knowledge.

More than anything I wish people could realise that we are really made of stardust.
