Few places in #Ecuador creates so many feelings of mystery and adventure as "#Llanganates". It is possible that the first idea that cross our minds is that of the mysterious places to the east of Píllaro where Rumiñahui hid the treasure of Atahualpa, after the capture and death of the Inca in Cajamarca.
This, has become one of the most impressive legend, and it has awakened the ambition of many treasure hunters and in some cases, their adventures here have ended in failure and death. Reaching the area of the supposed treasure entails a long and arduous crossing through forests and moors very humid of the Cordillera de los Llanganates. The hard effort, cause by the difficult in its topography, is compensated by the dream landscapes that include the lagoons, forests of mist, and even a strange paramo of frailejones. So the legend mixed with its fantastic biodiversity, is possibly the true treasure of the Llanganates.
The activities allowed in the Park are: photography, hiking, jungle trekking, biking, horseback riding, mountain climbing, and camping.

#Chimborazo, the highest mountain in #Ecuador, is the face of this reserve. The colossus measures 6,310 meters of altitude and is surrounded by an immense sandy with a paramo rather dry, different to the majority. The reserve houses a large population of vicuñas reintroduced from Peru and Chile in 1988. There are llamas and alpacas, native domestic animals of Ecuador and used by the ancient inhabitants of the Andes before the Spaniards introduced horses, sheep, cows and Donkeys. The reserve was created to protect these animals and their historical legacy, as well as the strange wasteland of which they are part.

For all this wonderful geography and extraordinary biodiversity, in 1983 #UNESCO declared it Natural Heritage of Humanity. In the mountainous and high part of the park the descendants of the towns Cañari and Puruhá inhabit, and in the zone of forest are the territories of the nationality Shuar.

Located on the border with Peru, Yacuri is a key element for the natural transboundary corridor of the two countries.

The park protects moorland environments, cloud forests and high dry scrub, which are the result of the confluence of the conditions of the dry west and the more humid east. Yacuri is also part of the Podocarpus Biosphere Reserve - El Cóndor, an area of great importance for the conservation of biodiversity in the south of the country.

From here you can visit The forest of Angashcola, ideal for birdwatching, many of them exclusive to this area of the Andes; and also the Lagoons of Yacuri conformed by a total of 48 bodies of water of different size and of glacier origin.

The activities allowed within the Park are: photography, hiking, jungle excursion, bike ride, horse riding and camping.

It is located in an area of great biodiversity and endemism in the southern region of #Ecuador. Most of Ecuador's biodiversity is packed at these intermediate heights, where the cold is not so extreme and, on the other hand, humidity, microclimates, and geographic barriers abound. The area where #Podocarpus is located is considered a site of global importance for the conservation of biodiversity. For this reason, since 2007 it has been part of the Podocarpus Biosphere Reserve - El Condor, an award granted by #UNESCO. This area shelters a large area of moors, cloud forests and scrubland areas, fundamental for the preservation and continuity of the ecosystems of southern Ecuador and northern #Peru.

Located in the province of Azuay, where the Andes mountain range is older, with less volcanic activity and without the elevated peaks that are so common more to the north. Here the mountain range formed extensive uplands of great beauty where water accumulates in large quantities. El Cajas National Park has about 165 lagoons.
Surely the condors who visit it can appreciate its true form from the air, where each valley holds ponds connected by small streams.
The activities allowed within the Park are: photography, hiking, camping and experiential fishing.
