In this presentation, we will be reviewing the following:
- Review the potential roles that microbes can play in humans: as pathogens, commensals or mutualists
- Learn about the role of microbes for maintaining optimal digestion and metabolism and programming healthy immune and neurologic function
- Demonstrate how alteration of the microbiome can have a significant impact on health outcomes (beneficial or detrimental)
- Suggest practical ways to restore and maintain a healthy microbiome and the potential impact of those interventions on chronic disease
