One of the best brunch spots in Surry Hills. They get five stars not just for delicious food (eggs rusky is amazing) but also the service. The nicest owners and crew here. I'm a huge fan, and always love coming back.

The Passage is a narrow bar between Victoria Street and Darlinghurst Rd, acting as a passage between the two streets, as the name suggests. I haven't been very impressed by the food here in the past, but love coming for a night out with friends. The DJ is usually playing hip-hop and R&B with plenty of 90's kick back classics. It's not a huge dance floor, just some space along the bar and an unofficial dance floor area in the back of the bar, but it's part of the experience.

I'm a fan of the food here. They have some great options for set menus starting at $25 (followed by $35 then $45 pp) depending on what you want included. We've organised a lot of group dinners here and they can easily accommodate a larger group of 10-12 if you book ahead. It is a bit hard to hear, which is potentially one downside. The bar can get crowded, and I think it just adds to overall noisy atmosphere.

Love this cafe. I come here all the time. They are one of the few cafes in Sydney that has free Wifi, power points, yummy food, good coffees, and aren't trying to bully you into leaving before you're ready. Such a winning combination in my book (and a bonus for freelancers who want to get out of the house). My favourite menu item at the moment is the poached chicken salad with walnuts and pear. Also currently crushing on their wild berry smoothie. Super lovely staff here.

Love the corn fritters here. I always pretend I'm going to order something else, and then just cave and get the corn fritters (again). My favourite seats are out the back in the outdoor garden. It's just awesome on a sunny day.

I'm obsessed. I can't even play it cool anymore and pretend that I don't totally love this place. They update the menu with new flavour specials (rotated in) daily. Follow these guys on Facebook and Instagram to see what they have currently. Also, do be put off by the queue, it moves really quickly and is worth the wait. Just be warned... once you're hooked, you'll forever compare all other Gelato spots in Sydney to Messina.

My favourite local brunch spot. I've liked everything I've tried, but do have a few regular picks, including the breakfast burrito, go green breakfast, and the mushroom with haloumi on toast. They change the menu throughout the year to keep it fresh and seasonal. The coffees and fresh juices are also excellent. It's a good place to stop for takeaway coffee in Darlo. Weekends can get busy, but the wait is typically reasonable. Good place for groups, the seating is indoors and outdoors.
