New Illustrated and 8-bit GIFs!
I'm currently in Digital Media 2 at school, and our first assignment is roughly a month of making a GIF every day in response to a news story. I've been making those plus a lot more, including 8-bit portraits of my favorite artists, people, little narrative...

New Comic: Back Touches
This is my second attempt at a comic, first one in color. I have had this idea sitting in my brain for a while but I finally decided to get it done for father's day, so I spent the last two days trying to bang it out.

Blow Job

Project 'Blow Job' that was done on 2012 in my studio 'TADAOCERN'. Everyone could be a participant.

I saw Dr. Curtis Preik on 12-18-12 for a terrible cough and flu-like symptoms that had been bothering me for about a week. He told me to take over-the-counter cold medicine and charged me $150---no tests, no swab, no blood work, nothing. They actually said they were giving me a "self pay discount" since I had no insurance, and that the bill was originally $200 (!!!). I gritted my teeth and did what I was told, hoping that it would get better despite just being ripped off $150. Three days later when my cough was exponentially worse, I called the doctor back as he instructed I should if my symptoms worsened. They informed me that the doctor I saw was on vacation, and that they could "put a message back" for me, but couldn't guarantee that anyone would return my call. After 2 hours, a very rude nurse called to tell me they had called in a cough suppressant to my pharmacy, but if that didn't work then I would need to come in for another office visit---which would of course be another $150 charge. Still have no clue if I have the flu, strep throat, bronchitis, etc. The medicine is as I said a cough suppressant, not antivirals or antibiotics.I am beyond livid at the situation. I went in to the doctor when I did to get this junk knocked out of my system before Christmas, so I wouldn't infect my entire family. Now it's looking like I won't even be able to make it out of the house. Why do I need to pay a doctor $150 for him to spend 5 minutes telling me to go buy OTC cold medicine? Why didn't they at least do a swab to make sure I didn't have something serious? And when the doctor's instructions didn't work, why should I be charged ANOTHER $150 for HIS mistake? Why would any doctor's staff with a conscience charge a patient $150 if no work was done and no medications were prescribed? One would think that a normal person would look at that bill and think "Gee, we didn't do any tests and we didn't give any medicine to this poor girl, perhaps we could reduce this bill a bit." I believe this office purposefully operates this way in order to scam people out of money. I have no insurance and paid out of pocket for the $150 I was charged just to talk to a doctor for 5 minutes. That is disgusting, and not only will I never visit this location again, I am also never again going to patronize any practice within the CHS system. I did call CHS's patient complaint line and the lady I spoke to was very helpful and sympathetic, however that is not going to get rid of whatever this sickness is. UPDATE: After being told by the staff at Cabarrus Family Medicine that I would have to pay for another office visit if I wanted anything more than cough syrup, I went to see another doctor. This doctor did a flu test (negative) as well as prescribed antibiotics for what was tentatively diagnosed as a bacterial lung infection. 6 days later, I am feeling much better. All I needed was antibiotics, which could have been provided with the first doctor visit, especially for $150. UPDATE AGAIN! Today is 1/26/13 and I just received a bill from this place!! They charged me $150 to DO NOTHING and I just received an additional bill for $50! These people are insane! NEVER, EVER GO HERE, even if your head is falling off.

We had breakfast there when the place next door was packed, and the breakfast was great. It was actually the fact that I was sold bum batteries that sucked for me. I needed AAA batteries, and these were pricey ($1.99 for 2), but convenient, so I figured it was a wash. I bought 4 packs, and mysteriously burned through all 8 batteries (which accounted for a full battery change on my camera twice) in less than an hour. Less than an hour! AND I didn't have my camera on that much. I use it all the time, and have used it since, and it turns out those batteries just sucked. I hate to say something like this, but I should have just gone to Walgreens down the street.

Thought this place was great especially considering the price. The indoor pool was just perfect; the lobby is beautiful. It would have been nice if there was no curfew on the pool, but I understand why there is. The rooms are pretty standard for a hotel, and the location is excellent---it took my husband and I less than 5 minutes to walk to the main strip. We did not try the food. We'd definitely stay here again.
